Woodbrooke is a haven of peace in a busy world. Very welcoming, comfortable and excellent food. The building is lovely in beautiful grounds. The Quaker nature permeates the care and attention paid by the staff. Nothing is too much trouble.

I stayed here for a week's training and will return, soon. Being a quiet and reflective person, it was perfect for me. I got the train to Selly Oak and made the 20min walk to Woodbrooke, it's down a straight road, or you can catch a bus. Cadbury World (£15 entry fee) is nearby. The food is amazingly fresh, well... Woodbrooke is a Quaker property used mainly for Quaker conferences and courses, but also available to private travellers who are looking for somewhere peaceful and pleasant to stay. Bedrooms are clean and comfortable, and (since this is a converted mansion) some of them are positively grand. Mealtimes are self-service, with a choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options: tables are shared,... More

Woodbrooke is my favourite place in the whole world to stay. You are kindly welcomed, the rooms are lovely, simple and comfortable. Being a Quaker study centre, Woodbrooke is peaceful and amazingly pastoral for somewhere so close to Birmingham city centre. I have stayed many, many times there and loved it every time. The staff couldn't be more helpful. The... More

Thank you, Friend, for your wonderful comments. We hope that, as a countryside-in-the-city venue, it can offer guests beautiful and peaceful surroundings while still being accessible to Birmingham, which has great links with the rest of the country. We’re especially pleased about your praise for the welcome you’ve received, which is important for us, and I will pass your comments... More

It is most certainly a 5 star place to stay. Please do not stay here if you are expecting all the frills and extras offered by a big hotel chai at 4 or 5 star level. Please do stay here if you are looking for peace, quiet and friendship in amazing and idyllic surroundings. The bedrooms are adequately equipped, although... More

Went on the Young Quakers Engaged with Politics course. Even aside from the course itself, which was an incredible experience, I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! I arrived without a mobile phone charger and a spare was lent to me right away. When I fell ill during my stay, I was given an anti-inflammatory which successfully... More

Woodbrooke is an old building, carefully modernised with all the charm and none of the drawbacks of the original. The rooms are elegant, and well looked-after, and the service is second to none. The food is excellent, with lovely vegetarian options at each meal, and there is tea and coffee on tap at all hours. The dining room looks out... More

Woodbrooke just might be my favourite place to stay in the UK. It's wonderfully tranquil and well connected to public transport. The rooms are simple, clean, and quiet. They always have a vegetarian option and... More

I've had many stays at Woodbrooke over a few years for work purposes. It is a fantastic haven of tranquility - the rooms are very clean and quiet, the staff are friendly, and the (free) wi-fi is super-quick. And the grounds are glorious. Can't recommend highly enough.

I came to Woodbroke for a work function and absolutely loved it. The food was excellent, and the rooms very comfortable and peaceful. Oh, and the grounds! I had a walk around at dusk and it was simply magical. The staff were exceedingly lovely, and very welcoming. I couldn't recommend Woodbrooke enough.
