I am biased because I have been to Woodbrooke many times. And, this visit was as a Course Tutor. The staff is, as one would hope and expect, always pleasant and helpful. The rooms are plain but spotless. Beware, the hot water is seriously hot. The food is always plentiful and well cooked - and the menu range encompasses every... More

I stayed here on buisness only for one night, but room was nice and clean, all the staff where really nice people, plenty of parking, good wifi, and a top class full English breakfast, it was a shame I was only visiting for a short time.

You know that you are close to Birmingham City centre, and yet, as you walk into the beautifully kept gardens, complete with woodland and lake, the cares of the world are left behind and you enter a cocoon of warmth, peace and tranquillity. The accommodation is simple, tasteful and comfortable; the food is superb and all the staff are welcoming,... More

I have regularly organised writing retreats for my university colleagues at Woodbrooke. The peaceful surroundings, space and outstanding hospitality ensure we return year after year. This July 2015 we brought a small group of post-graduate students with us to support them in writing up their educational research for publication. We stayed overnight and we all benefited amazingly from the time... More

I can easily describe the lovely gardens and buildings, the relaxing garden room and clean and comfortable bedrooms, what is harder to put into words is the essence, the atmosphere of Woodbrooke- warm, replenishing, healing, kind, uplifting..still haven't found the perfect word..

I have spent many weekends on courses at this Quaker Study Centre, but my first stay as a bed and breakfast guest reminded me of what a wonderful sanctuary Birmingham has, fifteen minutes from the city centre. The gardens, with boating lake and labyrinth, are sublime. The food is simple and consistently delicious. Drinks and newspapers are available in the... More

I was here for the second week of a fortnight's intensive training. Woodbrooke has such spacious and peaceful surroundings even though it's just off the main southbound busy Bristol Road in Birmingham. Excellent food and library, helpful and friendly staff, good Quaker worship and silence.

I went to Woodbrooke, as I have done before, to relax and reflect in a peaceful atmosphere - a sort of retreat before doing a difficult job. It was all I expected: good but not flashy food; a comfortable room (the en suite a bit of a tight fit!); gardens in which to wander and a library open at all... More
