I went to Woodbrooke, as I have done before, to relax and reflect in a peaceful atmosphere - a sort of retreat before doing a difficult job. It was all I expected: good but not flashy food; a comfortable room (the en suite a bit of a tight fit!); gardens in which to wander and a library open at all... More

This is unique place. It is comfortable in the important ways, but not showy. So the beds and food are great, the garden and common room beautiful, and there are many facilities available free if you want them (TV, wonderful library, computers, newspapers...) Quakers value everyone good attention is paid to special diets, the needs of disabled people etc. Mealtimes... More

For a Quaker this is a perfect place to stay in a spiritual and botanical haven. The gardens were such a blessing to wander through in the spring, and the food was excellent, with vegetarian and vegan as well as gluten free options.

Woodbrooke is a study centre in one of the old buildings built for the Cadburys. The rooms are comfortable, but not fancy. You can have a TV - if you ask for one in your room. The food is beautifully prepared. Lots of options for breakfast. If you want an evening meal you should book in the morning. There's one... More

If you have to find accommodation in Birmingham and want somewhere quiet and peaceful with a great buffet breakfast, Woodbrooke is ideal. The rooms are simple, some with en-suite, very clean and mine overlooked the beautiful garden with lake. There is also a lovely garden room where you can read, and a patio area with tables and chairs. It's best... More

I cannot wait to go back. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. Bus number 61 and 63 will take you from Birmingham New Station to Woodbrooke centre. Make sure you have change with you. A single fare costs £2:20 drivers don't give change. Food was very good. I recommend this place to anyone. My room and the bathroom were... More

My wife and I have just had an excellent 2 night B&B break at Woodbrooke. The peace and tranquility are wonderful and yet the place is only 10 mins from Brum! We walked round to Bourneville Village and passed Cadbury World - you don't need to use the car! Spending time in the lounge area overlooking the gardens was bliss... More

My husband stayed for one night on a busines trip. Smooth advance booking process, helpful emails. Easy to find, great central location. Quiet. Single room perfectly adequate, with clean en-suite. Quite hard bed but OK for a night! Breakfast very good. Would visit again.
