We have stayed at The Old Rectory before and were very impressed. However, our stay this time was disappointing. On arrival the owner / staff ? did not introduce themselves, so we had no idea who we were speaking to. We were shown to our room, which had no soap in the bathroom, one pillow each, although the tea and... More

The old owners have sold on and the new owners have a lot to live up to. Our room, Stable Block 7, was extremely cold over the Easter weekend. Central heating was not on, just an electric heater provided, which when plugged in, was quite inadequate. While the bathroom has been updated, with the provision of a heated towel rail,... More

I travel a lot in my line of work and subsequently stay in a lot of hotels across the country. I'm always on the look out for a change to the usual business hotels... But I don't want to end up sleeping in someone's converted back room. The old rectory hits a perfect balance for me due to its proximity... More

We made a late booking and were lucky to find somewhere in walking distance from the wedding. The bed was very comfy, clean and the fittings and furniture were in keeping with the age of of the property. However my friend took a shower and the water pressure was not very good and it would have been lovely to have... More

We arrived at the hotel early evening with our overnight bags and was greeted with what I can only describe as disdain, the lady at the desk asked quite abruptly if she could help and I told her I had a reservation, she looked at me strangely and went out of the room, when she returned a few minutes later... We had no problems locating this B & B and stayed in Room 6 which was the old stable block and although the room was clean and comfortable it did get very warm . We kept the door and window open as much as possible and did not use the heavy duvet. Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday was full English... More

Located on the edge of a quaint little village The Old Rectory is a charming place to stay. Christine was a welcoming host and ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We stayed in the Sherbourne room which was traditionally decorated with a cosy 4 poster bed. There was a slight disappointment when we arrived as we... More

Described on Booking.com as an Hotel, but actually it's just a good B&B. Nice large room in an old restored coaching inn. Close to a bypass so quite a lot of traffic noise. I was down stairs and the ceiling creaked loudly whenever anyone upstairs walked around. Bed was great, shower was terrible - no water pressure. Reception from the... More

What a little gem. Christine is a most welcoming hostess who did everything she could to make sure we were comfortable. Our room was admittedly rather snug (we had to choreograph our movements around the room) but it was beautifully clean and the bed was very comfortable, and we were, after all, not there to spend time in our room....
