Having spent a number of years as a coach driver, and stayed in a variety of hotels and guest houses throughout the UK. I have visited Stratford upon Avon many times.........but this time it was a change as I was the one on holiday. Having no prior knowledge of "The Applegarth"........it was a pleasure from start to finish.....The room and... more

I chose The Applegarth from the internet as it looked like it would suit our requirements without breaking the bank. Very well situated as it only takes about 5 mins to walk to the Waterside ( by the theatres ) and to make a very pleasant easy walk we took the canal tow path.... lovely and peaceful. Our room was... more

An IT contractor, I stayed mid-week at the Applegarth for 4 months, roughly 80 days. Often working in the evenings it was great to have WIFI access, breakfast was fine with cereals, friut juice, and cooked options. Warm & comfortable, central position, close to the marina, canal & river - not to mention Will's Place! Tried out several rooms all... more

We specifically chose this Guest House as it was only 3 minutes walk to the centre of Stratford. We booked a family room which slept 4 and was extremely spacious, and a double room. The rooms were in the roof (so 2 flights of stairs) and had a door separating the whole of that section off from the rest of... more

The guest house is ideally located for the town centre and is only a short stroll from the theatre. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The big plus was the breakfast which was not only delicious but kept me going all day and I have a hearty appetite. For location, free parking and... more

We're regular visitors to Stratford and decided to stay at the Applegarth for 2 nights despite petty gripes by earlier Tripadvisor respondents. We, like the majority of earlier visitors, found the place comfortable and clean and the staff helpful and friendly. Stratford isn't the cheapest of destinations so a double room at £35 pppn is quite reasonable we thought. English... more

My wife and i stayed at the Applegarth 12th - 14th March 2009, check in was easy 2 minutes and in our room (No 6) this was very clean and really quite spacious, very light and airy, with a lovely bay window where you can sit and people watch.
