Having booked what I expected to be a 4 star hotel, I was sorely disappointed. At best, I would say this is 3 star hotel. The décor is shabby and our room was very poor and quite small, with no drawers or safe and 5 hangers in the wardrobe to be shared between two people. Old mis=matched furniture. The mattresses... Stayed here for an evening while visiting Stratford-upon-Avon. Upon arrival we were greeted by the happy smiling reception staff who were ready to move mountain and earth to ensure we took advantage of everything and anything while we stayed at their establishment. The room (suite) we stayed in was The Suffolk room. It was a beautiful room with traditional furnishings... More

Wonderful looking hotel with the old Shakespearean style frontage but modern inside. Two gripes. One, the restaurant/ bar . The service was good (although I wished the the staff had cleared the tables a wee bit more quickly) but the menu was a bit disappointing, so I ate elsewhere. The corridors area bit labyrinthine and I kept bumping into people... More

The hotel was absolutely perfect. We had a room in the Garrick Wing, and the room was everything you could have asked for.It was spacious, clean, and everything was provided to make the stay comfortable. The staff were so helpful, and made you feel so welcome. The breakfast on our second day was superb. We booked a meal in the Marco Italian restaurant on our first evening, and again... I was just in Stratford last week, seeing among other things Merchant of Venice from which the title of my review is more or less taken. I've been staying at the Shakepeare for literally decades and have always returned there. Now, I'm not sure I will. The good parts: Location still can't be beat. The staff remains stellar and helpful... More

We have been twice to this hotel and hope to go again. In the heart of the high street if you want to park your car and forget it for the rest of your stay you will not be stuck for things to do. The hotel is immaculate and the staff friendly and helpful. We didn't eat at the hotel... More

I had already seen most of the hotel reviews so asked to change my room on arrival from a front one to one at the back on the second floor. A very good decision as my room was larger than others in my group who were at the front of the building and very quiet. There is a lift so... More

This hotel is all right - it's ok. Nothing more. The room was large, the bathroom modern but the bed was very soft and the furnishings more b'n'b than supposedly upmarket hotel chain. The breakfast was average - the breakfast room in need of an update. The system was very peculiar - no visible toast; I had finished my breakfast... More

Lovely olde worlde hotel in keeping with the surroundings. Our room was quite small but with all the conveniences of modern hotels. We had a lovely hot buffet breakfast with our deal and the location of the hotel cannot be beaten. Only minutes walk to Shakespeare's birthplace, the hop on hop off bus and numerous pubs and restaurants. We were... More
