The indomitable Travelling Gourmet goes to Startford on Avon... This lovely boutique hotel is just a stroll away from the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre and the splendid River Avon with their graceful swans. The Waterside Brasserie serves delicious meals and the breakfast is delightful with my favourite Dorset Cereals and eggs a la minute. The location is excellent being close... More

We arrived before we were able to check in, this wasn't a problem as we could leave our luggage in reception: we needed to rush as we were to see Henry IV part one.... After the performance we wandered across the road and back to the hotel.....checked in and were taken to a most beautiful room, deluxe Cypress. The bed... More

the staff were pleasant and friendly, delicious food- breakfast and dinner, spacious rooms and bathrooms and extremely comfortable beds, love this hotel! the only complaint that we had to make was three series of different noises, the toilet flushing and refilling, noise of scraping chairs and something that sounded like feedback from the roof!?!?!?! But everything else, all good in... More

A good hotel with large spacious rooms. Decent food and friendly staff, but . . . Where is the air con in the rooms? I have stayed here twice and both times the room was too hot and i coudln't open the window as i was on the ground floor. Overall - definitely worth a visit

We travel to Stratford upon Avon a couple of times a year and the Arden was one of the hotels we had not yet stayed in. We have been in there often to eat and to sit at the bar and enjoy a few cocktails. The staff had always been efficient and friendly so we though we would treat ourselves... More

A return visit after 10 years for a theatre B & B. More luxury, but relaxed atmosphere, same nod towards it's history, but not over-the-top. Wonderful room, try Redwood, loved it. Excellent breakfast which kept us going all day! Plenty of fruit and choices of traditional breakfasts, my husband really enjoyed his smoked haddock and poached eggs. We highly recommend... More

This hotel is ideally placed for visitors to RSC theatres, just across the road. It has been extensively refurbished to a high standard, but retains some of the quirks of the original building. Reception staff were not particularly welcoming, but all others were excellent: efficient and pleasant. The generous breakfast, with waiter service, was perfect - even the tricky problem... More

Stayed at the Arden last week for (I think) the tenth time. It was lovely as usual, but some small details left me disappointed, especially as I had brought my wife in this business trip for the first time and she was looking forward to seeing The Arden which I always rave about. Despite booking long in advance we were... More
