Friendly reception staff. Clean. soundproofing poor though. Not absolutely convinced that the hotel is competitive for what it provides. Pefectly suitable for groups on Stag events as the rooms provided the basic needs. The bathrooms were ok. There was however no shelf for your toiletries hand towels only and no bath mat. Overall ok but I would prefer to stay... more

This has got to be the most horrific experience of our lives! we have stayed in lots of hotels all over the country some even cheaper than this.On arriving at this 'sleek city center hotel!!' we soon discovered that the area wasn't too safe it was surrounded by boarded up buildings and some colourful grafitti,The hotelier was rude and abrupt,... more

Was a bit apprehensive about staying here having read other reviews, but i found it to be ok,good location for city centre and st james park, the hotel is a bit basic but its warm and clean.Good selection of fresh fruit at breakfast time amongst other things. All in all if you are after a cheap b&b you could do a lot worse... more

The room was freezing, no heating dispite being told it was central heated and on a timer. Given a small electric heater to heat a rather large bedroom. Went out to celebrate son's birthday and came back to no heating. When does the heating actual kick in! Bathroom had a musky smell and decor of entire hotel left a lot... more

Ok, straight to the point: This isn't a great hotel, but it does the work. An en-suite room with a bed and a TV for £30/night is fairly good and just what you need if you are so desperate to stay in a hotel and you find the Grainger hotel, which was my case. I lost my plane to go... more

I was not impressed with the hotel or the room. I had two sweaty socks to greet me, obviously from the previous guests, in the cupboard under the sink, this was the final straw and I checked out. more

Living one hour away from newcastle we thought it would be a good idea to stay the night during a weekend festival called evolution. It cost £15 pppn and there were 4 people in each room, the electric shower was immaculate and all the bed sheets were throughly clean. Breakfast was lovely and the service was sound. Excellent value for... more

Went to Cliff Richard concert [28/11/08] & needed hotel fairly near to venue. Didn't know about this site. Pity! Hotel seems owned/run by Asian Indians. We were met at reception by 2 Asian men and a drunk whom the staff wished to eject. What followed was disgusting [& in front of my wife]. The manager tipped the drunk on the... more
