I attended a wedding reception here and would thoroughly recommend it as a venue for a fairly small number of guests. The setting was lovely, plenty of space both inside and out to mingle, excellent photographic opportunity and the exclusivity clause offered (for a fee!) meant not having to share the day with anyone other than the bridal party. The... more

I needed in place to stay while working in Newcastle for a few days and found this little place near the airport. I'm not one for the big corporate hotels. I give the place a call and got a reasonable rate of £89.00. The room was a good size with beautiful old furniture with the usual mod-cons and a perfectly... more

I have been staying when in Newcastle for the past 20 years and it remains one of my favourite bolt holes. The hotel has changed hands over the years and the area around the hotel has also changed. The original owners, Mr and Mrs Shilton ran a tight ship and I enjoyed my visits during the pre-email existence which meant... more

I didn't read the other reviews before we went and I'mglad I didn't! We stayed last weekend for a friend's wedding that was being held there. We had a great time. We had one of the garden rooms and didn't have a problem with it, it was decorated in contemporary style. Admittedly it could have been planned more carefuly with... more

I have to say this was one of the most dissapointing stays I have ever expereiced in a hotel. We bookd for 'Fun Friday' at a special rate of £35 the total bill was well over £100 for the stay and a meal which was overpriced and served in the coldest room I have ever eaten in. We were made... more

My husband and i stayed 1 night at Horton grange and i can honestly say it was a total rip off. We stayed the night in one of the outside rooms. The room can only be described as a scrubbed up potting shed for the grand total of £105 a night. Our daughter age 14 stayed in the room next... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Horton Grange Country House Hotel. We booked our room through lastminute.com and paid £85.00 B & B for the room per night. We stayed in the main house which would be my recommendation if you were staying here. They do offer Garden rooms which are OK, but more basic than the rooms in... more

Last minute idea for a quite weekend away, what a great choice. Lovey quite location yet only a couple of miles from Newcastle City Centre. A 'Typical English Country House Hotel' with a nice feel. My wife & I had a great meal in the restaurant, with exceptional service - loved every minute of it. Nice English Breakfast, the only... more

We booked this hotel due in the main to the proximity to Newcastle Airport and after a very long drive arrived to find the hotel locked with not a staff member in sight, after speaking with an adjacent property owner it is quite apparent this happens on a regular basis. We booked alternative accommodation at additional cost and we are... more

We normally travel on a budget, staying at b&bs and such but we always allow for at least one so called splurge when we travel abroad. On this trip through the UK, Horton Grange was it. And we were not disappointed. Our room was huge and beautifully decorated with large windows that faced east and each morning we watched the... more
