Situated right next to the river and, unfortunately, many nesting kittiwakes, this hotel proved otherwise to be an excellent experience. My room at the rear of the hotel was super clean, quiet, with a great bed. The staff who were all friendly went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was very good. In fact, the only... More

Newcastle seems to be proud of the fact that it has the largest inland breeding colony of Kittiwakes in the world. They nest on the ledges of the huge piers of the high bridge. Unfortunately this is a road width away from many of the rooms. The noise is un ignorable and does not stop at dusk as we were... More

The stay was welcoming and very enjoyable even the seagulls !! the view from the bar across the Tyne to the sage was fantastic. Staff were very helpful and just nice ! there are a wealth of good resteraunts around the hotel and although parking is limited you can park on the road after 6pm till 8:30am free of charge... More

A good samaritan came to the aid of my sick 82 yr old mother and helped her to the hotel. The receptionist was rude to her, the helpful young man and also myself over the phone. The TV controller and kettle didnt work and had to be swopped. Room phones not for receiving outside calls or making calls out...only for... More

We had a lovely large family room for our stay last week and while it was a little shabby around the edges the beds were clean and comfortable and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel guaranteed a good nights sleep and apart from the noisy seagulls outside it was fairly quiet for such a central location. There... More

Warm welcome at reception and this carried on throughout the stay with staff at breakfast equally pleasant. Our room was at the front and near to the infamous bridge and it's seagulls. Yes, there is noise but this did not cause any issues at all and you do have to run the gauntlet of going under the bridge remembering not... More

We stayed here for 3 nights last week. We had a room with a side view onto the Tyne Bridge. There was a lot of bird noise but we had been warned about that in advance and we had our earplugs. The bed was absolutely amazing. I've stayed in more expensive hotels whose beds were nowhere near as comfortable as... More

The location and the building (an old telephone exchange I believe) are second to none and the staff are all very pleasant. The bar area is clean and well presented. However, the reception area and the bedrooms leave a lot to be desired. Although clean, they are very tired and in need of improvement. You get what you pay for... More

I stayed here the night before a training course. This hotel is conveniently located and in a nice old building which has been upated to provide comfortable rooms. I had huge family room to myself. I loved the nesting kittywakes on the Tyne Bridge and fortunately they went to sleep when I did so noise wasnt a problem!

We just got back from an overnight stay and really enjoyed ourselves . We were there on Sunday and the Market was on so it was a pleasant surprise. We booked the meal deal and thought it was priced right. My Wife and I both have different food allergies and this was dealt with expertly by the front of house... More
