Went to this restaurant on Bank Holiday Monday. Great refurbishment with lots of really nice touches but pity about the food. I ordered Sole with shrimps which came with no sauce, mash, roast potatoes and veg bordering on the higher end of al dente. The meal was dry and was served with an exceedingly large and dry Yorkshire pud -... More

I entered as a customer and was treated as a friend. On observing others coming in they were treated the same. This is a family run business with a very personal touch everyone who comes through he door is welcomed in and made to feel special. I was so pleased to be able to let others know how wonderful The... More

We returned after an absence of 15 years (after the most apalling mushroom stroganoff of all time) to this recently extensively refurbished restaurant. The owners have don a great job with the layout and the decor, and the food was OK, and with a few tweaks, could be good. Went for Sunday lunch and were disappointed that the roast lamb... More

We met up with friends for a spontaneous meal on Bank Holiday Monday and were not disappointed with anything. The food was excellent, I had the duck terrine to start with and the duo lamb for my main, both were very good for presentation and taste. The décor is lovely, light and airy, we could read the menu very easily!... More

Really pleasant decor,, staff pleasant and attentive, I had scallops to start and home made chicken Kiev for main, my wife had blue cheese and fig salad to start with chicken in a wine sauce for main, the portions were more than adequate and tasty but not too expensive, I would definitely return.

After a disappointing evening at the plough restaurant ..(upstairs) ..on my way home in the car after leaving i called to complain..... as we had been out with friends who had recommended the plough i did not want to complain to the "management"..i use that term very lightly as the so called manager is the owners daughter who was obviously... Recently refurbished, yet again. I used to go to The Plough when it was just a tiny pub and remember it well. The new decor is very nice and the food was ok, but nothing special. I had rump steak which was a bit chewy and my husband had mixed grill. I then followed this with Eton Mess which was... More

Very nice country pub 10 minutes away from Newcastle Airport. We called in after a morning in Hexham intending on having one of the pub's afternoon teas but ended up having a much more substantial meal and would heartily recommend The Plough to anyone wanting a run out from the city or from out in the valley. On entering we... More

My partner and I recently heard about the plough inn through friends and decided to take a trip up to see what the newly reopened venue was like. We were taken aback with how nice the building and grounds were, and indoors was even better! We were greeted by a very nice young lady and taken to our table where... More
