I had booked to stay at the Grey street hotel and phoned to cancel our stay after reading the reviews on this site - however they reassured me that carpets throughout were being changed and offered us an upgrade. I also told them it was my boyfreinds birthday and that was why it was so important it was a good... more

I booked this hotel before reading the other reviews and I am so glad I did. Our room was clean, no dirty carpet and comfortable. The staff were polite and friendly and helped me with all my enquiries regarding my visit to Newcastle. The only downside for me was the breakfast, it would have been better for me personally to... more

We regularly stay in the North East visiting family and friends, choosing different hotels depending on exactly where they live. Our daughter had just bought a flat in Newcastle city centre, so we thought Grey Street would be perfectly located as a base. Location is great, but that is all. Disabled access is miserable; our room was the smallest, dirtiest ,grottiest... more

Was originally booked to stay for 2 nights at the Grey Street Hotel but upon arrival at the Grey Street Hotel on Saturday evening we were advised that the guest that should have vacated our room has not checked out & that his possessions were still in the room, damage had been done and he was uncontactable (not answering his... more

Let me start with a prejudice : I have yet to find a boutique hotel in England which isnt underwhelming and overpriced. Grey Street hotel is no exception ; cramped reception area, stained carpets in the bedrooms, one large towel for two of us in a double room .The lift, though in a vestibule with lovely old tiles and staircase,... more

Very central location and good room service food from the restaurant next door, but service was poor throughout my stay. On arriving to check in, the receptionist wasn't at all welcoming. I went up to my room and a porter was in there removing the luggage and clothes of the previous occupant and moving it to another room! First impressions... more

The hotel itself is in a great location, but the quality is not what I expected. First, my arrival was marred by the fact that although I had a confirmed booking that stated my arrival date twice, I was told my reservation was for the following night. The reception area was functional, but small with little space to wait for... more

Every time we travel through Newcastle by train we say that we must visit so finally booked a bank holiday weekend break. we thoughly enjoyed the weekend and did everything planned and an added bonus was watching all the stags and hens on the Saturday evening. The hotel was fine but is not really a boutique hotel. The room was... more
