We booked in for 5nights and we enjoyed it / It was easier for getting to south shields and to get to the shopping complex near the tunnel entrance/ we were in the annex which is the newest part of the hotel. the beds were the best we have ever slept in/ We have stayed at the one in gateshead... more

Having just returned from this "hotel", and still feeling much the worse for wear, I now feel a sense of duty to let everyone know how bad this place actually is. I have stayed in many Travelodges in my time, and I know what to expect for my money, but this place is something else entirely. If you are planning... more

Just came back from staying in Travel Lodge Whitemare Pool Newcastle. This has to have been the worst place I have ever stayed. The rooms were dirty, had not been cleaned before we were put in them, bedding was not clean. one of our party had to ask to be moved as their room was so bad. some of our... more

This is a typical Travelodge - you know what you're getting and they deliver it effectively. There is Burger King and Little Chef on site but there were no smells in the rooms as has been suggested in some reviews. In fact, the room is adequate and, although some of the fittings are getting slightly dated, none of them could... more

I only read the reviews of this hotel on Tripadvisor after I'd booked our stay at Whitemare Pool, and wondered what I was letting myself in for - but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I was fearing it would be! Only a very slight cooking smell in the reception area, but as it's open plan and shares its... more

Arrived at Whitemare Pool with some trepidation after reading previous reviews. However was pleasantly surprised by lack of cooking oil smell as quoted by others. Room was clean and completely what I would expect from Travelodge. We had to turn down the heating even though temperatures outside were frosty to say the least. Location is handy for Metro line, just... more

One of the worst places I have ever stayed. Greeted by disgusting smell of cooking oil as you went in the door. Receptionist was under pressure so no time for talking. Stale smokey smell in corridors, same in bedroom. Room smelly and shabby. Only plus was clean bed. Has put me off booking a travelodge again. This hotel is in... more

Would put it at 1½, rather than 2: not terrible, but just about tolerable. Stayed one night while taking daughter to look at universities & got the room as a special deal at £19. Snow showers outside when we arrived. Friendly and helpful receptionist, but she was one of the few pluses! Room cold when we went in, at about... more

A group of us stayed here for one night. Great cheap hotel that is out of the city but perfect still. A taxi to newcastle from the hotel is £12. Taxi's are easy to book and recep very helpful. The hotel had some noise but not bad at all (we stayed on sat night), we all managed to sleep fine.... more
