I have visited many, many times - it has never been a let down. Food is great, staff excellent, choice of beer from the brewery a real boon!! Pub small and quaint, restaurant very comfortable - with conservatory. Large, free parking, kids play area and large beer garden. You can't go wrong!!

Stayed the night here for a big family get together. New Baby and a Birthday! Have been for meals and drinks when we lived in the North East, pleasant surprise to find we could have B & B. We had a room in a house in the carpark. Sounds strange, but it was very comfortable and clean. TV was very... More

We stayed here on our hike of Hadrian's Wall this past fall. We got in after dark and they gave us our room key and set dinner reservations for an hour later so we had time to shower and get all the mud of us. Our room over in the cottage wasn't large, but was alright and was clean and... More

Keelman's has some of the best real ales you will find and a very welcoming staff . The food was ok but not amazing, and the rooms are nice, but are ready for a birthday.....All in all it's what you would expect for what you pay (would like to return in the summer to look at its surroundings in daylight... I did not stay in the hotel but I do want to make a comment about the Sunday dinners. I have had Sunday dinner at the Keelman on and off for the last few years. I always returned because of the high quality if their dinners. However, this view had changed since my visit yesterday. The food was slightly warm,... More

We visited the Keelman Lodge for a family function and stayed the night , having travelled a long way to get there. The room was large, attractive, clean, warm and comfortable, with an immaculate en-suite bathroom and the best shower ever. There was even a selection of biscuits, tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room for us. Breakfast wasn't... More

I had the chicken, bacon and leek dumpling which I enjoyed but did not really recognise from the description on the menu. The staff are helpful and I did not mind that the service was a bit slow as there were a lot of diners as it was near to Xmas.

I have been to the Big Lamp brewery before and stayed B+B so when I needed to travel to Newcastle/Wallsend I booked 1 night B+B this time staying in the Keelman's Lodge room 8. I could have had Xmas dinner but that evening after seeing relatives I drank 4 different half pints - my favourite was the Prince Bishop. The... More

My son and I stayed here one night walking the Hadrian Wall. The food was good. It's a nice lodge. The room was not very modern. No wifi in the room, in the lodge it didn't work. Also the television didn't work. But I slept well there and that is important. And I haven't seen much alternatives.

Stayed here while attending a family wedding. Allocated rooms in The Lodge single storey building. Very disappointed in the standard of the rooms we were allocated. Mine stank of damp and was so dark that I had to have the light on all the time I was in it. I had to sit in the car to put on my... More
