We walked Hadrians Wall in beautiful sunshine carrying all our camping equipment. Foot sore and weary we arrived late on Friday night to a warm welcome comfortable accommodation and good food. Staff were helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The place had a real buzz and was clearly patronised by local people too. A great stop and set us up... More

Stayed here as our first stop on our East-to-West Hadrian's Wall walk. Close to the path (150m?). What a welcome stop after the walk to be greeted by a pub with so many great ales brewed onsite. Our room was spacious and clean but as others have noted could use some updated decor. It reminded me of a dated motel,... More

We stayed here whilst walking Hadrian's wall, it is right on the trail and so great for walkers. The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable but the decor is somewhat outdated. They are perfectly fine for one night as somewhere to rest your head. Food is good pub grub and breakfasts are OK but nothing special. However as real ale... More

Fabulous bar and meals. Recommend you book a table if you stay here as the food is fabulous. The rooms are okay maybe a little outdated now. The beds have a comforter rather than a duvet. To be honest I don't believe that is hygienic as no one washes them each time a new person arrives. The pillows were hard... More

Just returned from five days at the Keelmans / Big Lamp Brewery Newburn, what a great venue. We were a group of twelve golfers playing golf at various course's and using Keelmans Lodge as our main base, what a great place to stay, the rooms have all that you need, very clean, bath/shower, comfortable beds, flat screen TV, and Tea... First time staying here , had 4 nights dinner bed n breakfast , 12 of us stayed in the 6 rooms of the lodge ,they are very clean and spacious. The food was excellent and of a plenty . The service was first class with all members very polite and very helpful. For the real ale drinkers amongst us there... More

We stayed here while doing the Hadrian's Wall Walk. The rooms are in a building set a few yards away from the pub to which it belongs. They are basic but perfectly functional and there was a bathtub which is what matters most to walkers! The riverbank location is lovely. The pub served good solid food, and they do large... More

We stayed here on our second night of our Hadrian's Wall Walk Challenge. Rooms were away from the main lodge but were large, clean and fairly comfortable although a little dated. It also housed a bath which was very welcome after an 11 mile walk that day to soak our weary joints. Beds were pretty comfortable and plenty of room... More

I stayed here during the week whilst working in the area. Rooms are comfortable and quiet and a short distance away is a walk along the Tyne. Plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits and toiletries. Only minor gripes were small TV and kettle not emptied after room servicing. Microbrewery beer is excellent and cheap and restaurant service and food were good.... More

This was a family pub.Now it has been taken over by 'the locals' called The Furniture even by some of the restaurant staff. Typical when the management do not maintain their presence and control over the regular drinkers. Bad language and having to walk through a haze of cigarette smoke at the door is bad enough.Talk about Passive Smoking. These... More
