This place is long overdue for refurbishment. Although it has "no smoking" notices everywhere, it has that musty smell that comes from old cigarette fumes. The room carpet was stained, thin and sticky and the decor was dated and unattractive. Curiously, the shaver electricity point is very close to the wc pan - I wonder whose idea that was. On... more

We stayed two nights at this hotel whilst attending my mother's funeral. Good points first - the staff were very friendly and helpful; the food was good, both for evening meal and breakfast; there was free Wi-Fi access, and it was cheap - from £47 a twin room a night (excluding breakfast). The main problem with this hotel is that... more

We had booked to stay for two nights but booked out after one. Rooms basic and comfortable, Great shower, rather drab interior. Restaurant very expensive, bar was closed due to a private function. Dodgy people sitting outside the entrance or the hotel drinking cheap beer/cider more

Having stayed in Campanile's in France we decided to give this a go as we only needed somewhere to sleep as we would be arriving late and leaving early. It follows the Campanile formula - basic with a comfy bed, decent sized bathroom, tea and coffee facilities, tv, wifi, hairdryer but the room is small. Check in very easy and... more

Rooms are dated. Room could have been cleaner. Bed uncomfortable. Could hear traffic from the A1. Could hear everything from adjoining rooms and corridor. Excellent check in staff. Never ate there so could not comment. Would I stay again, probably not... but I'm not complaining as I got a 3 for 2 offer it came in at around £30 a... more

We stayed for a few nights between Christmas and New Year at a great price, because of the holidays. The hotel is fairly basic but it provides everything you need - coffee/tea, TV, telephone etc. It was very clean and the daily service was excellent - with everything replaced and nothing missing (I find most hotels fail to replace some... more

Stopped here for the night to do some christmas shopping with my girlfriend. The hotel was 10 minutes away from the Metro Centre. We have stopped here before and for the price it is great value for money. The last time we stopped it was quite hard to find, but they've added new signage on the roads now so its... more

I have stayed here on about 15 occassions so far this year. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Motel style accomodation with a lovely Bar/Bistro and food is nice enough too. Rooms are clean with TV, Telephone, Wifi (payable), Shower and bath. Location wise (just next to the A1) it is great for Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and Newcastle... more

We stayed here for 3 nights (having got 3 nights for the price of 2) to attend a family wedding in the area. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The en suite had both bath and an excellent power shower, small toiletries were provided and the towels were changed daily. We enjoyed a good meal in the bistro on... more

My wife and I had an overnight stay here on the way North to Scotland. Our journey North was very slow due to an accident further South on the M1 and instead of arriving at about 7.00 pm it was clear that we would be much later. We called them and were pleased to find that the restaurant serves dinner... more
