We just returned to the New Kent after staying here last December. We really enjoyed our 2 night visit again, great value; I booked 3 rooms which were all modern, well presented and comfy beds. Breakfast was really good and plenty of choice, even though there were 8 of us our food came together and was piping hot. We had... More

Parking for about 8 cars so get there early. Suspect you may be able to get a permit to park on the street but one was not offered. The choice of drinks on draft are limited. Restaurant only had one choice below £10 for a main course. Most starters about £4 or more. Sat down ordered a draft beer and... More

Stayed one night in Hotel, very clean, staff very helpfull. I have stayed in a few Hotels in the Jesmond area, this is one, the Hotel is in a quieter part but still very close to bars and restaurants and 5 to 10 mins walk to metro.

Just stayed at New Kent with my son and his friend for the weekend to watch a Newcastle game. Ideal for the purpose. We had 3 single rooms which were ideal. The receptionist was very helpful with directions. It was a 5 minute walk to the Metro and 4 stops to the ground for a return fare of £2.60. On return... More

Hotel doesn't have anything else but the basic amenities. Asked for bottled water but they had ran out for two days on the trot. Parking can be tricky at the weekends as the car park is small and taken up by staff cars mostly but reception can provide you with a permit that allows you to park on the street.... More

Drinks and biscuits, comfortable bed, plentiful hot water, super clean, pleasant staff, good value bar, perfect poached eggs, easy free parking, great position Next time I will bring my own soap and shampoo...however there is a Boots nearby, and a Waitrose. Short walk to the West Jesmond metro as well as numerous bars and restaurants. Could not be bettered at... More

Staying for just 1 night it was the price which drew me first to this hotel. £40 for 1 night is pretty reasonable. I wasn't sure what I would get for that as I have stayed in some pretty grim 'single' rooms in the past, however I was pleasently surprised by room #19. Very spacious, clean and well decorated. Large... More

Having stopped mid week was given family room on top floor . The tv did not work properly and had only 5 channels which were all pixelated. Bathroom was outdated with pink suite with cracked sink basin and shower head suitable for anyone under 5 foot 4 tall. Shower gel bottle was totally empty . Black out blind was too... More

I stayed here on a recent business trip. The staff were very nice, and the room was very clean. The communal areas, and furniture, and especially the bathroom could do with updating, although there was plenty of hot water. (My bathroom had a pink suite with a cracked sink (which I reported), and a low shower-head over the bath.) Breakfast... More

The question needs to be asked is, Has the Best Western chain seen this hotel? Not the greatest. A faulty towersesque feel to it. Good location and that's about it. Could be cleaner in rooms - bath still had hairs in it from previous guest. Rooms very small. A double room is a bed pushed up against the wall on... More
