Booked for 2 nights staying for gay pride. price was £134 B&B for a "small double" so a small double meaning a large single bed but it was big enough for me and my partner. The hotel is in the best and I mean the best location in Newcastle! directly opposite the train station. Rooms are very basic, dated but... More

Central location opposite main station and bus stops. Our room 223 in a side street. Five minute walk to main shopping area around the Grey memorial column. Think Nelson's column for this architectural gem. Visitors can ascend I understand. Reception staff friendly and courteous. Everything very clean and serviceable. Newly refurbished from what I have seen on the first two... More

Good location bang opposite the station and in the town centre. Bedrooms facing the main road are noisy (this is Newcastle!) until late at night. The single room I had was a hike from the lift/stairs round several corridors and down some steepish stairs - and titchy!

Sat in a pretty poor room wishing I had booked somewhere else. Location wise it's perfect if your catching a train or on a wild night out but be wise it's a dormitory not a hotel. Shabby not chic. Definitely the last time I stay here, I will look harder next time for a city centre hotel in Newcastle..

I've stayed in Thistle for two nights in March 2014 in single room. It is near to the train station, and metro so no taxi is needed. Wi-fi is included but the signal may be weak in some rooms. GOOD POINTS: - thick walls = quiet rooms - helpful staff - very comfortable beds - nice breakfast BAD POINTS: -... More

I stayed at the County Thistle,Newcastle during July,2014.This was my third stay at the County Thistle in three years. The hotel is opposite the Central Station Railway and Metro lines. From the airport the Metro is £3:30 for a single journey which takes about half an hour to get to the hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable with an en suite... More

Great central location across the road from Central Train Station. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet room on a busy city centre with the secondary glazing. Could have done with a fridge and safe in the room. Good breakfast choice. Would recommend for a stay.
