We stayed at Newcastle Mal again and found, as always, to be nearing perfection. The room we had this time was an Executive Double with a Millenium bridge view and although it seemed smaller than the last room of this type we had was still outstanding. Breakfast was lovely as always, fine selection of food. Did notice that the gym... more

We have never stayed in a MalMaison Hotel before, but after our stay we will visit again. Lovely room, which was a Suite and the staff could not be more helpful. I booked all the extras (Champagne, Strawberries etc) as it was a special occasion and everything arrived on time and they really made our visit that bit more special.... more

A great hotel. in an old Cooperative building on the quayside. Excellent location, easy walk into the city centre and just opposite the Millenium Bridge. Rooms really light and airy. although the rest of the hotel typical Malmaison - dark and sensuous. Staff very friendly and food very good. Have stayed at Mal Leeds a few times but Mal Newcastle... more

Very nice - & beautifully furnished - room, good-sized bathroom, good atmosphere in the bar (where we were able to have a post-theatre drink with our 14-year old), efficient and friendly room service, with a good range of things available, & attentive but not intrusive staff. Excellent service all round - exactly as one would expect from a Mal hotel,... more

Upon arrival at 3.30pm our room was still not ready. We were hoever given drinks vouchers until the room was made up. The staff were very couteous and friendly, and when our hot water tap fell off...we were offred another room immediately! The room was lovely...spacious and clean, with the best most forceful shower ever....although even when we turned it... more

I booked a millennium bridge view room with the hotel's website for a fabulous rate. As it was a twin room, I asked if I could have a double bedded room (I hate single beds), and I was given a corner room with a view over the Millenium Bridge/the Sage/the Baltic/the Tyne Bridge - and space to relax with two... more

We went for an evening meal using a voucher for 2 courses and wine. Service was poor, not outwardly rude but we weren't even asked how our meal was. Food was ok considering we weren't paying so much but generally over seasoned and not what you would expect in a 4 star hotel. The fresh bread and olive paste was... more

The best thing about this hotel is the location, right on the busy Quayside area with lots going on. The decor is dark and depressing in the public areas and looks in need of a facelift. however there are some nice sofas scattered about. Rooms ok with nice a big bed. Toiletries thin on the ground consisting of body wash... more

Booked at relatively short notice for a one night Saturday stay through Superbreak. Knew all about Malmaison as I work in the hotel industry, but nothing quite prepared me for the gloom when I stepped through the door. Don't get me wrong, the decor and fresh flowers in Reception were great, but it took a few moments to get my... more
