After booking a nights stay for my daughter and son in law on their wedding night I rang on the day to see if I could upgrade. Unfortunately there were no rooms available but the very helpful receptionist said she would make a note and a card would be put in their room. I was sceptical but was over the... More

We stayed for a night in August... Not the friendliest welcome and the room was not what we expected - needs a refurbishment - tired and just lacking :( Great location and view though! Spa was lovely and the evening meal was fabulous, great service. Wanted to enjoy a relaxing drink on arrival in bar but it was full with... More

My wife and I arrived for check in at 2.30pm on a Thursday. We had requested an e-upgrade to a suite, but unfortunately there were none available. However the receptionist was very helpful and managed to find a more superior room than we had booked for us to upgrade to. We have stayed on several occasions at the Malmaison Newcastle... More

Fabulous hotel located on the banks of the Tyne. Our room was very spacious, spotlessly clean and well presented. Friendly staff made our stay very welcoming. Will definitely stay in the hotel again the next time we visit Newcastle

I booked this hotel to enjoy a mid week stay with the hubby. We had a wine and dine option so we also dined in the hotel restaurant. The hotel is in the perfect location, on the river, with great views and access to lots of attractions. Overall our stay was nice, but I did think that our room was... More

Apart from the facts that they wouldn't give us a late checkout (which just seemed a bit petty) and the fact that the bar/restaurant appeared to be playing host to those three Newcastle staples of a wedding, a hen party and a baby shower simultaneously, this was a faultless stay. The rooms are big (make sure you get one with... More

We didn't stay at the hotel but wanted to write a review of the Starbucks Coffee which was attached to the hotel. We just wanted a snack breakfast each morning and found this and a friendly welcome at Starbucks. Lovely toasted tea cakes and toasted sandwiches and of course great coffee. Oh and you got to use the hotels great... More

Have stayed here twice. Once with the husband in a suite and once on the girls spa package. When staying with husband we got the chance to get upgraded to a suite for minimal price. Well worth it. Suite fantastic. Huge bed and bath with loads of freebies. Starbucks on site. Only downfall is the parking. Across road from hotel... More

Entering this hotel from the bright and airy quayside was like walking into a dimly lit fortune tellers tent. Yes the rooms are spacious and well equipped, however they still lack any brightness and leave you feeling somewhat down. The purple painted walls in the corridors are an eye saw and belong in a funeral parlour. The price of mini... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal. ... more   less
