Malmaison have a great reputation and this is the second one I have stayed in. Sadly I have been left disappointed both times. Perhaps I expect too much. The rooms are a good size and have everything you need, but they are beginning to show their age in both style and wear. The location is great, very much in the... More

Having stayed here for one night on Business. I found the hotel to be very expensive for the standard of hotel. The room I was in was facing the millennium bridge but the furnishing could do with being updated. Pros excellent location on the quayside Cons expensive for food and drink

We stayed at the Newcastle Malmaison on Saturday 12th April. Booked it at the last minute for the second anniversary of our first date. I have stayed here several times before and the Hotel and all the staff bar non are a delight. The hotel is very easy on the eye and i never fail to have a great nights... More

I have stayed here several times and if there are rooms I would stay here every time I am in town. The rooms are very pleasant, if a little over-decorated for my tastes. Service is good. Last time I was there my friends came down for lunch, we had a great meal and I had a huge and surprisingly good... More

What a treat, large clean room, quirky French style, great restaurant with superb dinner and huge breakfast range. Location next to the river with great views and 10 minute walk into centre of Newcastle. This has been one of my favourite stays in a hotel can't wait to return. Free wifi but only a tiny gym, but a run by... More

Malmaison's used to be 'up there'. Haven't stayed in one for a while & now they are so dated. Yes they have fancy nibbles & drinks in the room but that's about it My room was freezing upon check in & I think the windows are not double glazed. So could hear a busker playing all afternoon-deep joy! Had room... More

Malmaisons are quality hotels. Stayed in a few and always liked them. Nicely furnished rooms with a feel that's just that bit nicer than your normal identikit hotel room. They are a bit dark but that's their style I guess. The Newcastle hotel is in a great location, right on the Quayside with loads of bars and restaurants a short... More

We stayed here recently for three nights. The location is excellent, right on the Quayside, opposite Pitcher & Piano (they have happy hour with 2 for 1 cocktails from 5 till 8 every day), and next to a La Tasca and a Gusto restaurant. Go to Sabatini's for dinner, it is a fantastic restaurant. We paid extra for a superior... More

Have stayed at this hotel a few times now on business. Recently they have changed the toiletries supplier, which in my view was a mistake. A few months ago you used to get lovely shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Now you just get shampoo and body wash - which are of poor quality and which look and feel exactly the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal. ... more   less
