First visit to Newcastle and couldn't of had a more friendly welcome from the girls on the front desk. I am already a fan of Malmaison but these girls win top prize for the best front of house! Looking forward to my stay thank you Lindsay & Natalie!

My wife booked this hotel as a surprise for me for my 50th birthday. The level of service you receive can only be described as exceptional, from booking in at reception and throughout our stay, the professionalism and friendliness of all staff just has to be admired. When they knew it was my birthday, they even sent a card up... More

I stayed at the Malmaison, Newcastle with my boyfriend at the beginning of April and we could not have been happier with our stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with big comfy beds and a range of facilities. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who immediately made us feel welcome. Our room was very spacious with great facilities,... More

We arrived a little early and the room was not ready which was already booked. We left our suitcase and headed into Newcastle for lunch. On returning to the hotel we obtained our room key only to be told as the room was not ready we had received an upgrade. What a well set out room we received. All the... More

Outstanding hotel in a beautiful location. This hotel offers great standard of room, dining, as well as a great (late opening) bar. Thank you to the team for your great levels of service throughout our stay here.

I initially booked another hotel in the area but on arrival the other venue was unsuitable. I called Malmasion who made my booking and welcomed me on arrival within 10 minutes. Great rooms, really enjoyed staying here for 2 nights. If you've stayed at Mal before this place delivers very well. Excellent location on Quayside where there are lovely bars... More

Always considered this chain of hotels to be at top end of the list. Hotel looks great from a distance, in a fantastic location, just a step from the quayside. Arriving outside there were cigarette ends all over the place. Walking to the room the carpet looked like it hadn't seen a Hoover for a while. Room was however spacious... More

We were disappointed by our recent stay at the Malmaison Newcastle. The food was a real low point. I don't think there was a bad chef on the night we stayed, it is just the menu is mostly burgers and steak. For us the food and a really high standard restaurant makes our weekends away so I should have researched... More

Malmaison have a great reputation and this is the second one I have stayed in. Sadly I have been left disappointed both times. Perhaps I expect too much. The rooms are a good size and have everything you need, but they are beginning to show their age in both style and wear. The location is great, very much in the... More

Having stayed here for one night on Business. I found the hotel to be very expensive for the standard of hotel. The room I was in was facing the millennium bridge but the furnishing could do with being updated. Pros excellent location on the quayside Cons expensive for food and drink

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal. ... more   less
