Stayed here again for the fourth time. Had a huge double room (317) and it was very quiet and comfortable. Mini bar was well stocked. They now provide bars of chocolate from the Grown Up chocolate company - these are not in the mini bar but are still charged at £3.50 each. They were delicious. We had a super king... More

This place is comfortable and the staff are great but the decor is dire. Think black ash furniture that most people binned in the 1990s, dark purple corridors that most people painted over in the early 1980s and extremely low lighting (to the point of being inconvenient). With decent decoration this could be a good place to stay but till... More

Just had a 2 night stay here. The service was outstanding, my little one was ill during our stay and the staff especially Lee (I think he is the night porter) was amazing, so helpful and charming to my 9 year old. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable, the food was great but the service just made it for... More

Stayed here for one night as we were at a friends wedding nearby, check in was swift and the room on the 5th floor was lovely but lacked a view unless you could call the neighbouring building's roof attractive, it had a well stocked bathroom full of toiletries and was impeccably clean, there was a mini bar as well as... Had lunch in the Brasserie and ate from the Summer Classic menu. We all enjoyed our meals, portion sizes just right. The service was good and the intervals between courses perfect. The only thing that lets down the Brasserie is the decor, it is very dark with no visible windows from where we sat and the furniture and carpets rather... More

We had 2 rooms and paid extra for views of the river. The location is superb but one of our windows had condensation within the glazed unit so spoilt the view a bit! The room was pleasant but really in need of upgrading. The bed was not as comfy as it should be and creaked. There were no robes which... More

Stayed in this hotel with work colleagues. The hotel was booked for us by the company that invited us to their open day. It was a great choice. The rooms were large and welcoming with a large tv, mini bar and toiletries. The stayed open late and staff were all very friendly. The hotel has a Starbucks near reception which... More

Love the location of this hotel right on the quayside. Staff were really friendly. We ate in the restaurant and the food and wine were really good. Cocktails in the bar are amazing! Our room was very comfortable and quiet ( stayed before in a room on the front on the second floor and could hear noise from a bar... More

Stayed here for a friends birthday weekend. Having stayed at several Mal properties I knew what to expect. The hotel did not disappoint although does look like it is starting to need some freshening up in places. The room was big and the beds comfortable - we bboked a deluxe twin and there were 2 very large beds. The hotel... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal. ... more   less
