The Gibside Hotel is one of those almost anachronistic places that one stumbles over now and again. Needing a short notice 2 night stopover I chose this for proximity and price. It's the type of hotel I cut my teeth on when I first started travelling and didn't have good expenses available. so it's basic. Located on Whickham High St... More

What a joy this hotel is, our son and daughter in law held their wedding reception in this hotel and we were amazed how helpful and willing all the staff were. The food for 100 + guests was served quickly and hot to all, full credit to Paco the manager of the restaurant, never a more dedicated person could you... More

Have stayed here before and just as good this time. Staff very friendly and very comfortable clean hotel. Fantastic value for price. Restaurant and food excellent. No complaints, would recommend for business or pleasure. No swimming pool!

Stayed in the Gibside for one night on a whistle stop in Newcastle. We called at 12:00 to see if they had avalibilty for 2 adults and 2 kids, they could not have been more accomidating. We were given a 2 bed apartment. It was excellent, big rooms, big bathroom excellent facilities. On returning home we called about a reservation... More

We booked a deluxe room which overlooked the valley and was on the side of the hotel away from the main road. Limited free parking at back of hotel alongside road, otherwise you have to use the pay car park opposite. It was a newly refurbished, large room with flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi and huge comfy bed. Lovely and... More

I cam here for Sunday lunch with my mother and mother-in-law. The food was nice and reasonably priced. My mother has a gluten allergy and they were able to accommodate for this very well. Also, the staff were friendly and professional. The only downside is that the restaurant is perhaps a bit lacking in atmosphere. On the whole though, we... More

Had a happy hour pasta here, all pastas and pizzas £4.95 weekdays 6 until 7.30, massive portions, lovely. Sit by the window and you get lovely views over newcastle. Comfortable seat, nice attentive staff, superb. Plenty of other choice on the menu aswell.

Having read the reviews I booked overnight fro a business trip. Staff were friendly and helpful but standard of the room was poor. Rather shabby and bathroom had definitely seen better days. Shower - well I would have to have ran around the shower to get wet the pressure was so poor!. I opted for a bar meal which was... More

Dear Guest I am sorry to read in your review that you were dissapointed with your bedroom , and I am surprised you found it 'shabby' as all of our bedrooms have been redecorated and completely refurbished within the past 12 months. We do have 3 grades of guest roms available, so perhaps a Delux bedroom or a Junior Suite... More

This hotel is OK but seriously lacking in charisma - the rooms are bland and a bit 'prison cell like'. It's location (within a shopping precinct) is not at all clear from the website so it's difficult to find the entrance and it feels like a community centre as you arrive. as a result i feel it's priced a bit... Dear Robotcowbell Thank you for taking the time to post a review - and i just wanted to check that you definately stayed at our hotel - as we are definatively not in a 'shopping precinct'. We are in a Village which has several village shops , a newsagents, butchers etc - its hardly Bluewater . We also in no... More

Very friendly staff, night porter particularly friendly to all... The reception staff are extremely professional and remember your name, big plus.. Rooms are clean, bit chilly, and well decorated. The showers seem to take a few minutes to get up to temperature but worth it when they do... Hotel is a bit spread out but once you get your bearings... More
