This hotel is actually a real nice hotel. We stayed here 5 nights in July, and in general we think its very nice. The room was a family room and it was actually 2 big rooms with beds in each og them. In England measure the room was huge! Positive with the free minibar stocked every day. Cleaning of room... More

A beautiful building with huge potential. I feel that the hotel and decor is in need of a bit of TLC which I believe the hotel are attempting to do. In view of the size and genre of building, this is obviously a work in progress which is understandable . The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was... More

this is in a great location for the station and looks amazing when you enter it. It is a bit noisy as it's between the station and the main street but I had earplugs so it didn't bother me. I stayed here on 2 occasions - first time I was upgraded to a suite on the 1st floor which was... More

Couldn't be better. My first stay was great with no issues. The hotel and room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially housekeeping managers. Can't complain, for sure i'll be back.

Hotel is really convenient for those traveling via train, as you simply turn right exiting the station and you'll find the hotel on your right. The chandeliers and staircases lend it a nice charm. I was checked in and upgraded from a single to supreme double quite quickly. It was room 215. Not the cleanest - needed a good dusting... More

Great to stay in such a historic building. Architecture is fascinating and it has a nice old-fashioned feel. Room was comfortable, and great value. There is noise from the trains, but it really didn't bother me at all. The room was hot, and you can't open the windows beyond a few inches.

This is our second stay at the Royal Hotel, and although we had a pleasant stay,if they concentrated on the smaller touches it would definitely do better for itself. Some staff were friendly however the majority of them weren't very helpful or welcoming, and the housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired, our bin hadn't even been emptied nor towels been replaced. The... More

I chose the hotel because of the location to the train station so that I could not get lost. I found the hotel staff very helpful when I asked them a couple of questions about checking out. I found the room at times very hot but then again I didn't spend a lot of time in my room. I liked... More

Just returned from the hotel on my sons stag do. Between our group we paid over £1,150 in room fees. On arrival I spoke to the duty manager(Christine Ramsey) about one of our party due to a family bereavement (his mother ) he was unable to attend and would the hotel as a good will gesture not charge him for...
