Paying £60 for a night here was about its worth. Although in a popular part of Newcastle the rooms themselves are tired and appear to have been knocked about by previous occupants with chips and dents on the furniture. Staff were OK, but when I reported that there was no remote for the TV, they said someone would bring another... More

We have stayed here four or five times now using the Peel Hotels Gold Voucher scheme. This is not widely advertised but you can get details by phoning a Peel Hotel. You get two nights dinner, bed and breakfast with an upgrade to a superior room. Prices start at about £110 - that's for two people for two nights -... More

Spent two nights in this hotel to take in a show in Newcastle. We booked with another couple but our rooms were on different floors. The decor in the rooms was worn and tired. The hotel catered for 'groups' which were allowed to make lots of noise between the hours of 2am and 6am and as our room was adjacent... More

Stayed Saturday night. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Room at the back was tired and long past it`s best,Carpet threadbare and woodwork damaged. The bathroom was also dilapidated, dirty grout and filler. Breakfast was excellent.

Just returned from a weekend celebrating a hen party...lovely hotel with helpful staff..deputy manager was a wee gem an sorted out an issue with taxi firm... Clean spacious rooms...even had an iron an hairdryer..2 essentials for a group of females...definately would stay again. Only downside was the walk to the towncentre but taxis soon sorted that!

Having used this group peer hotels numerous times was really disappointed in this hotel. Have visited crown and mitre in Carlisle this does not have a patch on it.nfrom start to finish was not great. Offered to upgrade room at reception, why should I after money we have paid. I now know why....room 238 stuck in the back corner of hotel... More

Stayed with friends at this hotel and had booked 3 double rooms. On arrival, check in was nice and easy with no problems. We quickly found our rooms but unfortunately 2 of them had a really bad smell of cigarettes which was really offensive. I would not have expected this as all of our rooms were 'non-'smoking'. The room was... More

I have stayed at this hotel for the past 9 months on business. I have two weeks left at the hotel and I must admit I will miss it dearly. The staff have been excellent with me during my stay and made me feel welcome. During my long time at the hotel I would like to thank the bar staff... More

I have always been a worry wart when it comes to booking hotels and accommodation online because in past experience owners will list their places as Hotels when in fact you are staying at a dingy run down B and B. Well, I made the best decision ever booking at the Caledonian. I honestly cannot fault it. Throughout the hotel... More

I recently visited billabong bar where Alex was on hand with all wants and needs a true delight to our stay so friendly and helpful. It's a shame the nachos weren't as good as Alex . They were more like a soggy popadom good drink deals and service !!!
