Having read other reviews we were a bit reluctant to stay here and hubby even wanted to change to different hotel the day before but we didnt. After an initial mix-up with our allocated room, we were upgraded to a junior suite and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. I agree with other reviewers that the rooms are... More

The Vermont Hotel is in a great location, close to historic centre. The staff is very attentive and kind. Check in and check out very fast. At guests disposal there are two car parks. Good food. Excellent value for money.

Nice hotel, has own character and central location, very close to historic centre, the Sage and bars. Cosy bar and restaurant with good selection of food for reasonable price and excellent and attentative staff. We were served by Petra, she was very pleasant and helped us to feel comfortable and special even next day at the reception. I would definitelly... More

The Vermont is arguably one of the landmarks of Newcastle, being set in an imposing building next to Castle Keep, and ideally located for bars and restaurants on the Quayside. The City Room we booked was a reasonable size comfortable and clean, but rather dated in terms of decor and furnishings - as is much of the hotel. The main... More

I stayed in this hotel for a few nights during my recent visit and I really enjoyed the experience. I was greeted by Petra, a lovely receptionist, who helped me check-in quickly and recommended places to see in Newcastle. She was also very helpful next day in the restaurant where she asked me if I was able to find what... More

We had read many of the review of this hotel and so when we went away a few days ago - we were expecting the worst! Was pleasantly surprised upon arrival - the staff are helpful e.g. recommended places to eat nearby and the doorman moved our car into the hotel car park himself. The location is perfect - very... Close to city centre and the Tyne - The Sage is just across the river. However the hotel is certainly showing signs of tiredness - certainly the room we were in. The room was small, dark and claustrophobic - the view was only available if you stood at the window. The television was old fashioned, the TV control did not... More

I last stayed in this hotel over 10 years ago and sadly the rooms and corridors haven't been decorated since! They are really tired, the art work very 80's, the TV's ancient and furniture battered. More positively, the hotel is in a great central location. The staff are lovely and room service excellent. The newly refurbished bar is fabulous and... More

We recently stayed at the Vermont for our son's wedding. The hotel provided first class arrangements for the wedding and the staff went out of their way to make their special day a first class experience. We understand that hotel is under new ownership and is is the course of refurbishment. The Heritage Suite used for the wedding ceremony and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Few hotels can boast a more enviable city centre postcode than the Vermont Hotel, for this imposing structure is located in the heart of the City of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, not only next to the Castle Keep and opposite the historic Moot Hall, but also just two minutes from Newcastle's Central Station. Combining old character in the form of 1930s grandeur with contemporary elegance and four-star luxury, the landmark building is your base from which to discover the many bars, shops and attractions of the town centre and wider area. Look outside your window and you might see such sights as the River Tyne, Millennium Bridge or stunning cathedral, and it's not the only mark of the sheer inspiration of the Vermont Hotel experience. That's because the reasons for the hotel's reputation become clear with a stay in any one of its sophisticated bedrooms, which are finished in soft relaxing colours while also coming with a wealth of facilities for your pleasure and comfort, including - among others - private en-suite bathrooms, a mini bar and free Internet access. ... more   less
