We stayed here over the Easter weekend on our first visit to Newcastle. First off it's right on the river Tyne in front of the bridge, our room had this amazing view!! It's five minutes uphill walk into the city centre and Gateshead is just over the Tyne Bridge. Our room was a decent size, with a sofa and coffee... More

Lovely hotel with a delicious breakfast. Pity however that we were given a room facing a wall with a frequent train passing along the top part of this wall; therefore no view and noise from the trains which ran all night. Also we were under the illusion that newspapers were complimentary (that is what it says in the hotel handbook)... More

I have been overcharged on my credit card after leaving the hotel. I tried to contact them several times by email and produced proof of not having purchased anything but the only reply I received was that the accounts person would need my card details etc. I sent them all the info but to no avail. They never reimbursed me.

This is the second time we have stayed here. Bargain price £52.00 for bed and breakfast with free parking for both of us. Excellent location, yes rooms are a little dated but very clean and comfortable beds. The lounge, Redwood bar and restaurant are all very modern and welcoming, great breakfast, Eggs Benedict was very yummy along with buttery croissants... More

Start the day with a cold shower, (No hot water) then you have to use the pump action toilet, I reported the problem twice but no action taken. Complain about room service and the restraint manager just becomes abusive. I spend half the year in hotels across the globe and this is the worst so far

Stayed here several times now. Always great value for money. Probably the most under-appreciated hotel in Newcastle. Unlike chain hotels it has character, a beautiful and unique position overlooking the River Tyne and fab bars and restaurant. The Twilight Menu (£60 per couple for 3 courses including wine!) is probably the best menu in town and such great value. We've... More

Free parking is a huge plus and the décor in the public areas is very pleasant. Our room [919] was slightly dated and although we could hear a little noise from Dean Street below & the train tracks, this didn’t spoil our stay or sleep. The room still had a decent view but I can only imagine how good the... More

First stay at the hotel. As others have said, the room was a little "tired" but more than compensated for by the courteous and helpful staff. Public areas are fine. Late changes to our plans in the evening meant making up a bed in our room for our young grand daughter - done immediately without fuss. No hesitation in staying... More

The location is great; level 1 is the Quayside and level 6 is Castle Keep. The hotel has every type of facility possible, both leisure and corporate. The food is very good, the breakfast buffet is a choice of both cooked and continental. The staff are very friendly and helpful throughout the hotel, it is certainly the warm Geordie welcome... More

Few hotels can boast a more enviable city centre postcode than the Vermont Hotel, for this imposing structure is located in the heart of the City of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, not only next to the Castle Keep and opposite the historic Moot Hall, but also just two minutes from Newcastle's Central Station.
