Stayed at this hotel for the evening as part of a birthday night out with the girls. The rooms were fine, clean and basic, There was a fridge full of fresh orange juice and kitkats which did come in handy at 4.30 when we stumbled in! Excellent location, bang in the middle of osbourne road and parking round the back... More

This hotel was excellent value for the price. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant downstairs were good with simple but tasty food at very reasonable prices. I would happily stay here again. More

Vastly overpriced and poor, shoddy furniture and bedding. Got into the room and noticed holes in the walls, cigarette burns in the carpet and in the bathroom. Sat on a chair and at 8 stone, didn't expect it to collapse. The bed seemed fine and comfy but what I later learned is that it contained scabies mites. One very embarrassing... More

During our UK trip we were in Newcastle three times and stayed at three different hotels- the other two I rated as excellent. This hotel was a similar price at 81.60 pound for the night but was greatly inferior and well overpriced. The George next door is only 60pound and may be in far better condition. The hotel is situated... More

At £40 for a single room, there has to be better for similar or less. The hotel?? Malmaison it is not. Barely adequate - would think that £20 would be about right. I wondered how many of the "couples" in the dining room were actually just on away days from their wives/ husbands. Tip1; if the other person in your... More

I'll admit I was worried. I was in Newcastle for the Great North Run, so needed to be able to sleep. Having read some of the reviews on here, I started to have second thoughts. So the decor is a bit jaded, there were some cigarette burns in the carpet and some marks on the wall, but I wasn't going... More

My husband booked this hotel as part of a surprise vist to Newcastle for our wedding anniversary. After looking at the reviews on here I was very apprehensive - he'd been unable to book anywhere else due to it also being the weekend of the Great North Run. We managed to get a parking space at the back of the... More

I find it hard to imagine how hotels like this still exist, when for the same money you could stay in a far more pleasant Premier Inn or still be more comfortable and have change in your pocket from a Travel Lodge. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of pleasant independent budget hotels out there, but this is NOT... More
