Was going to see the Bodyguard at the Royal in Newcastle, and on Thursday night just by chance came across this Hotel for Two with Breakfast for £69. It was lovely had a twin room very clean, cleaner than most hotels, the owner was also very nice and helped us arrange Taxi into Newcastle City Centre. It was in a... More

Our room - and the public areas - were delightfully furnished and it was a joy to stay at such an interesting and historic building. If you like the bland uniformity and lack of care available at most chain hotels, this would not be for you. Our host was very considerate and helpful. Do not be put off by the... More

My great grandfathers owned coal mines in Newcastle, and I was unaware of the history of Hedgefield House before we stayed. Loved the quietness of the location, even though we got thoroughly lost trying to find it, as the suburb is Blaydon. It represented the sort of property my ancestors could have owned. (They owned the Archbishops house) so much... More

Just off the main road but a real gem. A quiet off road manor house with enclosed gardens, plenty of parking. An incredibly exceptional hotel full of history packed with oriental treasures. Exceptionally clean, original high traditional ceilings, large windows, huge rooms all tastefully decorated and luxurious oversized furniture. Bathrooms exceptionally high quality baths and fittings, luxury flooring, huge beds... More

Having booked this hotel I was delayed en route, but was called to advise me where I could find a key. I liked the fact I was being looked after even before I arrived. In some ways this establishment is in the GOOD category, and one big plus was a decent sized bedroom with heating that was working when I... More

From the minute we got there to the minute we left - was a great experience. attention to detail clean and peaceful. Will be back for sure. The place obviously has a lot of History once owned by a man who owned six coal mines and gave to his son. This is a place with a history and I want... More

Only stayed 1 night. Initially it was slightly difficult to find as it hides behind high walls and the entrance is slightly obscure and on a bend. However, once we arrived Hedgefield House opened up like pandoras box. Large reception area with a full size suit for a knight in shining armour, standing on guard. Lots of oriental feeling pieces... Set in a beautiful tranquil grounds. House decor is beautiful restored to the highest level clean and tidy. Rooms are very nicely done large bathroom (double room) .Breakfast was lovely healthy, fruit, cereal, toast loads of choice. Our bed was on the firm side which does not suit our comfort taste but we can not fault the hotel in general.

Don`t normally have time to write reviews of hotels but after hearing about the review by Kirsty D I felt like I had no option but to defend the Hedgefield. I stayed there for around 3-4 months at the beginning of the year, as I am working in the area and during this period probably stayed in every room in... More
