Brilliant! The largest and most stylish hotel room ever, overlooking the Tyne. On a wet and windy day it was the perfect base. We hardly went out except to The Sage in the evening which was an easy 10 minute walk away.

We returned just as a couple for a night out and on this occasion were not staying in the excellent rooms as we have done previously. Last time we shared the Chateaubriand but this time on the recommendation of the Waiter we had Beef Bourguignon on the bone. This is a rib larger than your plate with a large amount... More

Underwhelmed with my bland cod main meal, the waiter did apologies for my obvious disappointment, but not even a coffee offered to compensate. Nice room, nice staff, nice quiet location..poor evening me for me.

Lovely position overlooking the river and an easy walk into town. All the staff were very pleasant and friendly. The room was very large, lovely big comfortable bed, all nice and clean, the bath in the bedroom not my thing at all, nowhere to put the soap ect, husband had trouble having a shave as the lighting was so dim... Sunday lunch was brilliant. Soup starter was nice and fresh breads excellent. The market table has a wonderful array of fine foods. Don't pig out too much as served main course is substantial and wonderful. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choice. Puddings to finish off were also tremendous with clean plates testament to our enjoyment. Give yourselves plenty of time to... More

We've been here a few times and the service is always excellent and the food delicious. I like the ambiance especially in the bar/lounge area before you go through to eat. Restaurant can get a bit cold if the door to the corridor is left open as it was and we got a little sick of shutting it. Love this... More

I stayed at the Hotel Du Vin for two nights on business and found the hotel and restaurant to be an ideal place to stay. The nespresso machine in the hotel room was a nice surprise and the capsules were topped up daily. Free wifi in the room was good for working. I enjoyed the breakfast and evening meal was... More

We have even here many many times over the past few years and have left glowing reviews previously. We thought that we would try the lunch service last weekend and were left totally disappointed by the service. The staff appeared much less experienced than on any of our previous visits which reflected hugely in the level of service we received.... More

Dear Gerroff, Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of the disappointment you faced with regards to your recent lunch at the hotel. I do hope that as a regular guest you will see this as an isolated incident rather than our normal lunch service. All feedback we receive is taken on board and aced upon as... More

I recently enjoyed a meal at HDV Newcastle for a friends surprise 30th birthday. All of the staff were excellent, in particular Diana who was friendly and very attentive throughout. The food was fantastic (the best steak I have ever had!) as were our drinks. After our meal we spent the rest of the night in the bar which was... More

Top hotel with friendly helpful staff. Stayed in the "Tattinger" room which is fabulous. If that is the standard throughout the hotel it is first class. Six of us got back to the hotel after the restaurant had closed, staff looked after us with bacon sandwiches in the bar area, a service which was much appreciated. Very good night sleep... More
