Felt compelled to write my first review. Really surprised at some negative comments about this great hotel. Stayed here for a wedding recently and had an amazing time. Location is lovely, relaxed and quiet. Staff were helpful and cheery and the food and drink was excellent. Room was clean and beds comfy. What more could you want? My friends were... more

As you approach the hotel up the impressive long driveway, you think "Wow! what a amazing setting" you see the hotel from the front and you think "Wow! what a lovely looking hotel", BUT and its a massive BUT!! after you park your car and walk down the long pathway to the side entrance where the receiption is your thoughts... more

Stayed here for two nights on the special deal. Room was small but considering this deal is cheaper than booking a campsite, I would not be expecting luxury. Free internet provided, beautiful grounds. Tea and coffee and good buffet breakfast provided for £7.50. Also small fitness room for free use. You are offered an upgrade if you want so I... more

Read a few of the reviews before we stayed and I can definitely agree with a lot of them. The nautical theme was a ridiculous idea, the double bed was indeed very small, as is the shower cubicle which was slightly blocked meaning you end up standing on a pool of water whilst showering! The breakfast was very average -... more

Stayed here for a wedding and it was OK, despite my reservations once I had looked at the other reviews. The setting of the hotel is beautiful - large wooded grounds which seem well maintained, which is more than can be said for the hotel - it just looks as if it needs someone to give it a lot of... more

Having read other reviews regarding the size of the rooms we were prepared for a small double bed. Although comfy it certainly was small! The bathroom was an OK size but the shower was also on the small side once you stepped inside (& I'm not that big!). It also needed a bit of a scrub on the outside tray.... more

Like many other reviewers we were on a £10 a night deal. The hotel is exactly as others describe. A not particularly distinguished Edwardian country house has been converted into a hotel during the decade that taste forgot - the 1970s. The hideous modern extensions at the back are (laughably) supposed to make the place look like a ship. They... more

I have to say the surroundings for this hotel are lovely and admittedly we did stay on a £10 deal but as far as positives go that is where is stops!!!. FIrst of all we arrived at the hotel at 16.30hrs, knowing that check in was 13.00hrs, to be told by receptionist that our room was not ready, It became... more

We went for a weekend leadership training residential weekend. Apart from the fact that the bathrooms don't have heaters or towel rails and look like they're out of a hostel of some sort, the food was beyond terrible and half our class ended up throwing up the night that we left. Now matter how little you pay, food poisoning is... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here on the £10.00 deal and all i can say is that im glad we didnt pay any more. We arrived and were told our rooms were in cedar lodge which was just around the corner. When we went around the corner we were staying in what looked like a very large shed! The rooms... more
