I was quite excited to be arriving at a hotel which was sold as a 4 start and with such a history but so disappointed in the overall stay. We stayed in the Lord Nelson room, very large but totally neglected, shabby carpets, poor furniture, sad bathroom, grubby curtains, lack lustre but with some hard work and interior design this... We stayed here on a Saturday night whilst visiting Guildford. The suite we stayed in was beautiful with an incredible large and comfortable bed. Despite being located in the town centre the room was exceptionally quiet. The downside - bathroom was tired , stained shower curtain, broken handles, shower head covered in limescale. Everything worked OK but in our view... More

We stayed here for one night - our room was on the top floor - Lady Hamilton. It was absolutely huge. Fantastic bathroom, fantastic bed with fluffy sumptous duvet and linens. Lovely separate entrance room with a sofa and huge flat screen. Tea and coffee making facilities. Enough wardbrobe space, sideboards, cupboards and antiques to furnish a small home! Carpet... More

I have stayed a few times and on the previous occasion to this one, I had a great night's sleep and was encouraged to come back. Unfortunately on this visit I had a room that showed promise but let itself down in many ways. The curtains didn't close for a start...not the best when it's on the High Street side... More

The Angel is a lovely-looking hotel and the suite I booked (overlooking the charming, cobbled High Street) was beautiful with all its beams and plush furnishings and very comfortable bed; what could have been nicer? I'll tell you what: The bathroom had absolutely no shelves to store one's toiletries; the television only worked sporadically when it felt like it; the... More

A 5 minute walk from the station took us to the Angel, a building 500 years old. The Reception was welcoming and we were shown to our rooms up and down stairs, round corners and a maze of doors all named after historical figures. Mine was William Pitt and I was shown into a room of amazing size with period... More

Quaint, comfortable, olde-worldy hotel in central Guildford, great location for shopping. The room was lovely, and a very reasonable rate. Staff were really lovely, incredibly friendly, and Bills next door was great for food and cocktails. Would have been nice to have had breakfast as an option to include in the price. Thanks very much especially to Jan who was... More

I spent a night in one of the suites at the Angel Posting House. I booked it based on the unbelievably low price for a suite in a four star hotel. It was a beautiful room, well appointed and nicely laid out. The bed was very large and comfortable. The bathroom was nicely equipped and spacious. My only minor niggles... More

The food at Bills was Great. Friendly servers...Class dishes. The ambience was nostalgic. The room was comfortable. The Hotel is right in the centre on Guildford High Street. It is a 2 minutes walk to Sainsbury supermarket and the same distance and 5 mins to the Guildford train station.
