The Guildford YMCA has deteriorated since my last stay two years ago. I upgraded to an ensuite room this time which advertises itself as "newly refurbished". The mattress sloped towards one side which made for a very uncomfortable sleep, the carpet was stained and appeared to be burnt, the bed linen and towels were very worn and grey. The worst... More

It is more a budget than a hostel - with clean ensuite rooms and tuny but functional bathroom. Basic facilities, but good value for money (even English breakfast included in the price). Very near to the railway station and High street.

Mostly unwelcoming, unfriendly and unhelpful staff at the front desk & office should not be in the "hospitality" business. One guy Chris Kingshot who has been there for years makes up for the rest. He is the only one who is helpful besides the nice ladies in the restaurant. If the unsmiling, unhelpful rude and negative manager is too self... More

We welcome all feedback from guests and like to address any issues arising with the staff involved. We do apologise for any negative treatment this guest received, but unfortunately we can not identify the Manager referred to as the Hostel Manager was on annual leave and no other staff remember any issues arising during the customer’s stay. Yes this hotel is cheap and well located but you stay here at the risk of being bitten by bed bugs. My brother, a friend and I all stayed here last week and have all suffered from bed bug bites since. Don't stay here!

Like many providers of accommodation we do, from time to time, suffer from varieties of pests which are brought in by our residents. This Hostel has taken this matter extremely seriously and has employed Bed-Bugs.co.uk to eradicate any bed bugs, and as you will discover from their website http://www.bed-bugs.co.uk/, they are on the increase both globally, nationally, locally and even... I stayed at the Guildford YMCA for a prolonged period last month. The basics are well and truly covered as the premises are generally quite clean, there's a daily towel change service and WiFi access in most rooms. I found the Single En-Suite rooms adequately spacious, although the modernised bathrooms can be a tight fit. The food at the Y... More

This is an excellent place to stay. It is newly built with an intelligent design. I stayed in an en suite single room at £55 per night. There is a pleasant restaurant view over the River which runs beside the YMCA. I ate two breakfasts and a dinner here and the food was excellent. I am a vegetarian but I... More

I travelled alone and stayed for one night in August & I could not fault a thing. The hostel is located on the opposite side of the road to the train station and a 5 minute walk into the centre where there are lots of shops and restaurants, so a perfect location. Upon arrival I was greeted by a friendly... More

....at the end of our boating trip on the Wey Navigation was excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful - setting up tables for us outside in the sunshine. A full English breakfast was £4.85 which included toast and tea or coffee. There is a lighter version for £4.20 and they also do a continental... More

It is probably the only option if you need to spend a night in Guildford. The few hotels are over expensive, BBs are spread out and not too cheap either. YMCA is very covenient, central, close to the station and well catered for. Something more than a regular hostel, with studio ensuite rooms, kitchens at every floor, social and events... More

I booked one night Single, shared bathroom, and 12 days Twin Ensuite. The shared toilet / bathroom are unexpected clean. Single good and nice. Nice Twin Ensuite, big bathroom, clean. Room lighting is bit dim, no desk lamp. There is no thermostat for the heater, if I need to open the window, I can't closed the curtain! Closed the curtain,... More
