As someone said on a previous review, Im sorry for the staff twho work here, the pleasant men that work in the bar and breakfast restaurant were really dedicated and attentive, really nice people, wasted on a place like this. This was our 2nd visit to the Whit horse we were here the same time last year, then the place... more

The main body of the hotel is very old world but a large number of the rooms are in a modern tower block at the back of the hotel. It questionable if the room are really worth what they are charging. They are comfortable but not overly plush . The shower in my room was poor , shower head needed... more

We stayed here for one night and had a room in the modern annexe at the back of the hotel. It was clean, roomy and very comfortable. Well placed on the main street with a large car park which was convenient and meant we could walk round Dorking which is a very pretty town. Also very well placed to do... more

Hotel seems charming enough from the outside and on first impressions when you walk in. Check-in efficient. Room (a classic double, apparently) was on the small side, as was the bathroom. Bed comfortable, but furnishings and decor tired and in need of a refurb. Passed the wooden coat hanger test though. But the room was COLD. Radiator was cold, and... more

My 4 night stay was booked for a training course. It was chosen primarily so we could go out at eat in the evenings and not be restricted to the hotel - there is a good selection of restaurants within walking distance. Main areas of hotel were being redecorated and recarpeted so if this continues to the bedrooms, will improve... more

After staying at the White Horse, i feel the previous reviews really are on the harsh side !! On arrival we checked in with no problems. Ok the hotel needs tidying around the edges, but the creaking floorboards and wonky ceilings are all part of it's character. After all it is hundreds of years old !!! We stayed in the... more

I was disgusted by the how tired this hotel was - creaking floors (not just because it is old!!), mouldy and decaying windows, mouldy bathroom that badly needs to be replaced, pathetic shower (that I didn't want to clean in). Overall the best part of the stay were the staff - must be embarassing for them to work there!!! I... more

It's a shame so many of you seem to have had bad experiences here - as mine was of friendly staff and good quality service! Stayed two nights for business, and was a little concerned due to bad reviews on here, was pleasantly surprised by the clean rooms (if a little chintzy for my taster) and the power shower :)... more

I arrived at the White Horse to find that they had no record of my booking. Despite showing them confirmation from our booking agency complete with the name of a member of staff, booking reference etc I was told that as they had no record of it ... So I was left with no alternative; I had to ask if... more
