This is a great pub, obviously well liked by locals and visitors alike. We visited on a Sunday late lunchtime, and it was packed - but they were extremely accommodating of us with our late booking. The food was excellent. I had a cottage pie that was made with beef shin, specifically to see how they would treat this cheaper,... More

First time back since the refurbishments, a big improvement. I was not impressed with the service, left waiting 15 mins for a menu, had to remind them in the end. The food was OK but as it was a Sunday dinner I would have expected some nice gravy, this was more like OXO, weak and runny. If you like gravy... More

The first thing to savour on a visit to The Ramsholt Arms is the drive to get there. Avoiding the pheasants and partridges scampering around the very narrow road is quite a feat in itself, especially this time of year. The actual approach to the pub is very beautiful with the river Deben acting as a backdrop to the very... More

I had not been to the Ramsholt for a year, but heard that it had been refurbished We were welcomed by a charming landlady who suggested a really great local beer from a small brewery locally in Woodbridge As I did not want battered cod so the chef kindly prepared local cod grilled It was beautifully laid out and was... We arrived on a cold, wet and blustery lunchtime in October and found the newly redecorated interior both cold in terms of temperature and also rather lacking in any character. Perhaps it could do with some warmer coloured furnishings and a fire would have cheered it up no end. All in all it felt rather more like a city pub... More

We have visited before but only for liquid refreshments. Today we had a meal. Our table was superbly located with excellent views over the river Deben. There is a good range of meals on offer and these are generally not the "normal" meals available. The meal was served promptly and all three of our choices were of good quality and... More

I was looking forward to visiting the Ramsholt Arms for lunch after it's change of ownership. However although the building had been well done up the food was not good value for money. The starter was good, but the main course a big disappointment. My rib of beef was tough and the manageress tried to tell me it was because... More

We ate here at a Sunday lunchtime and had fantastic home cooked food. Portion sizes are good and service was quick and friendly. We would especially recommend the shepherds pie. It was lovely to eat whilst watching the boats sail past.

We returned to The Ramsholt Arms this year having been last year, when we enjoyed the fantastic views and a very nice meal at a good price. This year we noticed the place had been refurbished and looked rather smart. The menu was extensive and it read very well, if rather expensive. However, it seems 'fine dining' is what they... More
