Called in here for a cool beverage and something light to eat, wine wasn't cold and I had to ask for ice. 4 staff standing behind bar chatting about the customers wasn't conducive to a nice relaxing end of day drink! Tortolleni was dry and tasteless

I have named this review pub with rooms because anyone booking it should really know that. It is not a hotel or guesthouse it is a 17c inn with quirky rooms and a dark traditional bar. I loved it. My room was a double, spacious and clean. The shower looked a little sad and I was ready for a disappointment... More

Had the misfortune to stay in Newmarket on business when the racing was on, rendering every decent hotel and B&B full. Through a weird and wonderful (not) corporate booking tool called Click Travel, was booked into this hovel. Paid £65 for a double room with single occupancy. Showed into a room with the dimensions and character of a 6' by... More

I don't really think The Owner/Landlord/whatever seems to care too much about his guests. The room was recently painted but limited widdow opening due to broken sash ,foam pillows not very comfortable, shower and sink fitted into very small space. Breakfast was poor no vegeterian option offered to my wife ,my half full english appeared within 2 minutes so I... More

After reading the reviews before we arrived we thought what have we booked! The reviews did not match the excellent experience we had. We were a group of 6 and had a really lovely night away. Clean and spacious rooms, VERY friendly staff and host and a great tasting breakfast the next morning. This hotel is situated in a quiet... More

Absolutely revolting hotel. Rooms are tiny, dirty, dusty & stained (particularly on the mattress cover). Holes in the fabric. Crumbs left in the bedside cabinet. Landlord couldn't give a monkeys when approached. No wifi access (that's free unless you are a BT customer). No breakfast provided to guests who have to leave early. Noisy & access is shocking. If you... More

Had I had internet access before booking I would not have stayed here. I don't really think The Owner/Landlord/whatever seems to care a jot about what has been written because from my experience from my stay and what I have read since nothing seems to have been done to improve it and he certainly fails completely with the attitude test.... I have recently spent 4 nights at the Wheatsheaf. I booked a twin en-suite room. On arrival at the Inn, I was immediately asked for payment, with no other communication beforehand with the landlord. I was shown to my room...it was a standard twin room with a separate bathroom! As it was so late and he had told me all... More

When you go to a chain hotel you pay far more and you know what you'll get: bland uniformity that you'll never remember. So why not pay far less and get a unique experience that you won't forget so easily? The Wheatsheaf is a character pub, individually fitted out with homely and traditional pub decor and furnishings. Everything in the... More
