We stayed here for two nights for our first anniversary. We had got a great deal and were really excited. Firstly Lavenham is a beautiful village and is well worth a visit. It is a chocolate box picturesque Suffolk village. Good points: The staff were really helpful, friendly and seemed to really want to provide a good service to guests.... More

This was a celebration for our 13th Anniversary and we purchased it via Living Social deal. The hotel was comfortable and the staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The bedroom was very clean and tidy. The food was lovely although can I just say maybe a few more starters! Some of the comments on TA... More

Echo all of last review really, No WIFI - not an issue for us but a couple apparently left after 1 night instead of 2 as they needed the WIFI to send an important document. Well thats what they said! Surely cant be that difficult to sort in this day and age! Stair carpet mentioned before. Looked worn. Not sure... More

Stayed in room 8 last weekend. Bed comfortable but did slope due to the unevenness of the floor. Not unexpected in such an old property. Every thing looks very tired. Carpet in room had marks on it but was nothing in comparison to the stair carpet frequently mentioned by other guests. Linen and towels were very clean and for once... More

Stayed here to experience the quaintness of a property built in the 1400's. Was happy to accept warped walls, sloping floors and windows that open suddenly without warning. But filthy carpet up the stairwell and no hot water in the morning is unnacceptable. The wi fi wasn't working either which was one reason we booked this hotel over others. The... More

Having read trip advisor reports about filthy carpets and avocados served in their skins (shock, horror) we were intrigued to discover the reality. Yes, the stair carpet was dirty and, yes, the avocado starter did come in its skin. But it's an ancient building full of character and our room (nothing truly vertical, horizontal or right angled) was lovely. We... More

Lets get one thing out of the way first of all the staff are a credit to this hotel and we can not fault them, very friendly and professional, couldn't do more. It's such a shame the hotel was so disappointing, I guess I was excepting so much more from a Marco Pierre White establishment. Shown up to our room... More

A very nice place to base yourself for cycling in Suffolk. Other reviewers have pointed out that the hotel needs a bit of TLC (especially the carpet on the stairs). That does not detract from the fact that the staff are welcoming, the rooms are quaint, the food is good and the hotel is on the market square of one... More

Our 4th. visit but first under Marco Pierre White's ownership. Refused Rm 6, poky with filthy carpet approach. Offered annex Rm 7, with shower and bath. Little storage space, no hangers, there for 4 nights. Staff excellent struggling against the odds, working hard and welcoming and cheery in the circumstances.Good choice of breakfast, disappointing dinner, although crab soup very good. Limited menu.no Wifi... More

What a let down. Starter of avocado still in skin with no means of scooping it out covered in supermarket rocket leaves. Ordered 2 steaks but we were into the starters before they discovered they had no fillet steak. Changed to sirloin steaks that were served over cooked with over cooked frozen fries. What a shambles only redeeming feature was... More
