The hotel is a charming country hall with a wonderful location, close to the sights of Bury St Edmunds. There are quite extensive grounds in which to wander in and during my visit the Snowdrops were in bloom which added to the charm. The reception area is good and there is a nice waiting area too. Staff are very obliging... More

This was a really lovely stay. I booked just a single night away for my girlfriend and myself. I also booked a 5 course dinner for us. Even though the price was a little inflated for the event, we had a wonderful night. Even a bottle of bubbles at the table was reasonable. I do intend to take her back... More

Nice location, nice dining room and waiting lounge. Good menu, prices are good on 241 food deal though would obviously be more usually. £75 per couple including wine and other drinks. Friendly and attentive staff. Have been before when therms were less busy and that was a little off-putting, though a good atmosphere tonight.

My Wife's Birthday and our anniversary treat and we were literally treated like royalty! The Saxon Room was lovely, antique 4 Poster bed, claw feet bath, perfect. The best bit? Being served breakfast over a truly decadent hour and a half, so rare these days in the self service world we live in. Thank you!

Have stayed here before is a lovely old building tucked away, we like to stay in winter time so we can both enjoy drinking wine by the open fire, dinner was disappointing not as nice as previous stays and a bit over priced. Breakfast was unfortunately cold and serive quite like faulty towers which did cause a chuckle.....

Visited on a chance Secret Escapes deal, and so glad we did. It's a charming, homely place, full of quirky detail. We had a lovely room complete with grand four poster bed, an excellent dinner and very fine breakfast. There's not a lot on the menu for vegetarians, but if you eat fish you're OK. That would be the only... More

Food :- Again priced without taking your breath away but amazing selection and cooked to perfection. Staff :- Faultless, everyone acknowledged you all the time with a greeting... More

We live locally and try and support this hotel. Over the years I have had a brilliant fayre and service due to booking xmas parties for staff and regular bookings for personal meals. But really disappointed on the last few meals as a couple! I feel the ambience has gone! With the loss of Yvonne so sadly missed! The quality... More

My wife booked a 65 th birthday treat of dinner, bed and breakfast. This privately owned hotel has an impressive approach up a long drive. We arrived in snow and were probably one of only a few residents that night. We were generously offered an upgrade to the St Edmunds room with its half tester bed and large bathroom. The... More

My family, the Bennet family, owned Rougham Hall nearby (now a photographic ruin on private land). They also used to own Ravenwood Hall country hotel. Finally my husband and I travelled from Australia to stay here. What a beautiful place. Exquisite service and the food outstanding. Our room was just fabulous and overlooked the grounds. We didn't want to leave... More
