I am sad to give this lovely hotel three stars, but our night was so uncomfortable I don't think I can justify four, despite the great staff and wonderful food. It's a charming English country hotel set in fabulous grounds, with big, old fashioned rooms with period decoration. We stayed in Deans Room and were initially really charmed. The room... More

I first visited Ravenwood Hall with my wife in 2012 on a ‘Taster Menu’ evening. We both enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel and the food so much we decided to see if we were able to book all 14 rooms for us and our friends. Right from my initial enquiry all staff were very responsive to my emails and... More

We had often passed the signs on the A14 and decided to try an overnight stay. Spare cash meant we could try the one of the luxury rooms. We got the St Edmunds room. For what it is - the price is wrong. Way to high. Next was evening meal. My wife is a vegetarian and nothing on the menu... More

The service was good however the rooms and hotel amenities are showing their age. Breakfast was served quickly and was of good quality. Plenty of parking in lovely setting, however close to motorway so expect traffic noise...

Some critics about the room not in accordance with such an establishment. No bathrobes, no soft towels, no shower cap, no beakers for toothbrush, no universal plug for electrical appliances, no bag for dirty linen, an less important no Skysport channel on tv. But the most important problem to me was the attitude of the responsable at the restaurant on... More

I booked this weekend break as a surprise for my husband for his birthday and to celebrate his retirement. I booked one of the most expensive rooms. The St Edmunds room. It was dull and dingy and it was obvious that it had not been decorated since the 1980s. It was a large room but looked so cramped because of... More

Staff are charming and food excellent. We stayed in the Magna Carta room which was tiny. A small corner cupboard to hang a few items in but absolutely no place to put nothing else - no drawers, no chest of drawers so very limiting. Mould on the bottom of the shower curtain but otherwise clean. We were very cold the... More

Just returned from a 2 night break and I could only say 'wow what a beautiful place'... The location was amazing and the property too. The charming hotel has bags of character in every corner. The room we stayed in was 'the deans room' , very spacious , beautifully decorated and had gorgeous views. Even after getting an extra bed... More

Our second visit, we selected the Easter deal (2 nights, inc 2 dinners & afternoon tea on arrival) because the food is excellent, & were again impressed. Relaxing quiet environment. Friendly humorous service. Beautiful gardens for a country stroll. Location handy to visit Bury (short drive). Thank you.

I had booked a Mews room but was upgraded to the Abbey room in the main building. On arrival I received a warm welcome and was helped by Samy to take my luggage to the room. The room is full of character with a large bed, Large wooden commode to use a step up if needed, a nice fireplace and... More
