A one day special dual-birthday break with friends couldn't have been better. A very beautiful period building with lots of character set in well kept grounds. Very clean and comfortable rooms with lots of interesting features. Extremely friendly and efficient staff who went out of their way to make us feel very much at home. The food was particularly good... More

I booked this weekend away as a pre- Christmas madness treat for myself, my husband and 2 friends. The package including a cream tea (including a kir royal), a 6 course dinner including a 6 glass wine flight, bed and breakfast! The room with a high four poster bed was warm and comfortable, the lounge where we sat around the... More

Got Married here. Lovely setting etc. When it came to our wedding meal, we did not receive what we had arranged and paid for! The owner Craig Jarvis was on site this day and when confronted by our wedding organiser that the food we ordered wasn't what we got and had paid for his simple response was "have they paid... More

We meet up with good friends once a year and normally stay at "The Swan in Lavenham" but we decided to give this ago as the cost of the swap seems to be going up and up each time we look to stay. Two couples late forties / early 50's that like to enjoy the nices things in life and... More

I took my husband, two daughters and in-laws out for Sunday lunch to this smart, country hotel. It has a lovely family feel to it and I loved the warmth of the fireplace. We all opted for Sunday lunch, my roast beef was delicious and I've never seen a Yorkshire pudding so huge in all my life! Everyone at our... More

The year is 1530... Henry XIII is King and he has funded the construction of Ravenswood Hall for a lady acquaintance. Slate tiles were something which roofs were made of and when it came to building-construction, or for that matter the construction of a simple lunch, scale, taste and grandeur were never in question. Fast-forward almost 500 years and I... More

Ravenwood has always had a great reputation for its food. Not cheap, but always well presented and well cooked. Tonight however (there were 4 of us) was left a bit neglected and disappointed. Again the food was good and not too long wait between courses. However for about £40 per head I would expect the little touches to be there.... More

This has to be one of the worst rooms I have ever experienced . Even the loo roll was damp ! It was in an annex up a metal staircase like s fire escape . When I asked for some heating I was told it didn't come on until 7 pm but the hotel was lovely and warm if I... More

We booked a room this September through secret escapes for a tasting menu and cream tea Perhaps because we booked directly the cold outside room was very cramped especially with our large german shepherd dog in fact it resembled a wooden chalet. The food was excellent but the single brandy afterwards was £18 50 suprising since my husband asked for courvoisier!

My partner and I had a wonderful weekend break at Ravenwood Hall. Our break started with a cream tea on the terrace followed by a five course taster set menu with wine flight. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We stayed in the Abbey room which has a four poster bed similar to that of the "Princess and... More
