Booked in for lunch, on a busy Saturday, we were greeted warmly and felt welcome. A superb lunch followed. Good quality ingredients, well cooked and all washed down with a pint or two brewed on site. I can recommend 'Gunners Daughter'. The Old Cannon's brewery is worth seeing. an exceptional pub and a gem in the quiet setting of Bury's... More

I stayed at the old cannon brewery for one night on the 20th April with a friend, we booked two single rooms via there web site. I arrived just after 11am and was given the key to my room straight away to my room while I waited for my friend to arrive. The staff were very friendly and made you... More

We spent one night at the Old Cannon Brewery over the Easter bank holiday. This Inn is grossly overpriced. The room was very basic and even though it was decently clean it was far from spotless. For 110 GBP per double room per night we would have expected more. The bathroom would have made the delights of a plumber: The... More

A really double edged sword experience, our table for four was booked two weeks in advance, we arrived fifteen minutes before the booked time. As we looked at the excellent menu, we were told there would be a 'delay' before the order could be put through, when asked why that was the case, we were told 'its because we are... More

On arrival they were really unfriendly and said they didn't accomodate children when I asked if they had a high chair [they had said we didn't need to provide one] This was not the worst of it - the room: Was very small and badly decorated and had damp in some of the corners The towels were threadbare and had... We tend not to respond to Trip Advisor reviews, as often in matters such as this we accept that being a review website what is written is often a matter of opinion, so we avoid getting into a two way public exchange. Instead, where a guest is not happy we ask that they come and talk to us at the... More

This is a totally different experience to staying in a hotel, or an 'ordinairy' B&B ! It's more like staying with friends, who happen to own a pub, which has quite nice bedrooms, and also happens to have its own brewery, in the Suffolk gem of a town that is Bury St Edmunds. Relax. Have a beer. Eat a delicious... More

We went to the cannon for Mother's Day lunch. As we hadn't been there before we were looking forward to trying somewhere new. The staff could not be faulted, friendly and very accommodating, the food, I could say on par with a 'hungry horse' style pub. Under cooked vegetables, very fatty meat ( which some people may not mind) and just... More

Ate here last week. The dill herring salad was lovely but VERY small portion and NO bread! Why do restaurants sell starters with no bread? The Thai red curry chicken was delicious - no complaints at all about that. The dessert was a disaster. Chocolate brownies should contain nuts and be moist and chewy Take a minimum of 35 mins... I have stayed at the old cannon brewery before and yet again have found it to be a comfortable place to stay. The bedrooms are clean and have been decorated to a high standard. The staff are friendly and the food and beer they brew on the premises cannot be faulted. Have already booked to stay here again.

Looking for a weekend break with a difference then I would recommend the Old Cannon Brewery. A small but comfortable room, excellent beers brewed on the premises, good food and exceptionally friendly (and knowledgeable) staff and just a short walk into the town centre. A couple of minor problems, one with the bathroom, the other with the initial seating arrangement... More
