Stayed here for 2 days while in bury st edmunds , this is a pub/hotel with a difference having their own brewing vats right in the bar, and i can recommend the gunners daughter brew. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and the very good service of the staff and the good ambience and friendliness of the locals. Rooms , although... More

When we first arrived the area seemed a bit strange to have a pub located but don't let that fool you it's fantastic ! The staff are what makes the place they are polite, helpful and very hard workers. We did the brewery tour and its was very interesting to see how it's all done. The beer was fantastic and... More

We had a very happy new year stay and the landlord was very helpful and welcoming. Our room was comfortable and clean with a very good bed. The complimentary bottle of beer brewed on the premises was a great treat !! Sadly breakfast was not included. The adjacent bar was great with a host of marvellous beers to choose from.

What a find! I nearly booked the new chain lodge in town but fortunately noticed this hotel too. Only a few rooms but all very clean and well appointed. A nice touch was the bottle of beer (and snacks) left for you in the room. Fantastic personally cooked full breakfast in the morning, light fluffy scrambled eggs, not tasteless powdered... More

The Cannon has the best character of a local pub, with a warm welcome for strangers, interesting craft brews, tasty wine list and great food. The hosts have figured out the perfect combination. Visit once and you'll want to come back.

This is a fantastic place to stay. Friendly and welcoming. The Blonde Bombshell bedroom was well equipped and comfortable, with a complimentary pint of their own beer and a packet of nibbles.. On arrival on a Sunday evening, I was offered fresh milk to make a cup of tea, which arrived in a small Thermos Flask to keep it fresh... More

Chose the hotel as it was close to the centre of Bury St Edmunds and had it's own car park. We were also delighted by the incredibly helpful and friendly staff, clean and comfortable room and great power shower. Tea and coffee making facilities came with yummy biscuits, a pack of mini cheddars and as we stayed in the Blonde... More

First came here years ago with work colleagues and it was great. Now obviously since then I guess the Old Cannon has changed hands. Came here a few weeks ago and ordered two curries, they were 'OK' but nothing flavoursome or to be repeated. However, last Sunday my father wanted to go here for lunch which we did. The Leek... We received a very warm welcome here. The building is lovely and interesting, it's lovely and quiet and they think of everything. The breakfast was great too. We would definitely recommend and stay here again ourselves.

This was a great find. We stayed overnight in a lovely bright, clean, comfortable room with all the amenities you would expect, but also a free bottle of the Ale brewed in site. Staff were friendly and helpful. We dined in the restaurant and had a delicious meal from the varied menu. The breakfast in the morning was also the... More
