Difficult to know where to start but probably best to start with accommodation. The Fox has ample parking but the stand out feature was the room itself. We stayed in apt #2, which is spacious and extremely comfortable with a large and very comfortable bed, sofa and good wardrobe space. The bathroom was a good size, well maintained and decorated... Very good value for money. Had room below room 6. Warm at night but had air con on even in February. Large room and bathroom great shower all very high standard . Behind pub on ground floor , no noise. Would recommend and stay again. Didn't eat so can't comment on dinner but good breakfast choice.

We were booked into room 6 which is upstairs, it had its own private entrance, with a little hall area downstairs which was useful and then wooden stairs up to the room. Finished to a very high standard and very clean. The stand alone bath was amazing, and the bathroom itself very well presented, with underfloor heating and large fluffy... More

Don't imagine because it's a pub and a restaurant that they have scrimped on the rooms - some of the best bathrooms and king size beds in town. Wooden floors, amazing bathrooms with monsoon showers and I reckon those sheets are 400 thread count. Plus they have great Sunday jazz nights - and I mean proper jazz not synthesised jazz.... More

We stayed for one night, arrived mid afternoon and checked in, our room was located in a purpose built building alongside the car park, you can park directly outside your room, the room was clean, comfortable, warm and had everything you need (tea/coffee, kettle, hairdryer, towels and the usual bathroom necessities), it was nicely decorated and we would definitely stay... We had the upstairs room which has the stand alone bath used in the promotional photos and it was superb. Spotlessly clean. Lovely toiletries and additional items. Extremely stylish. Large very comfortable bed. Only a short walk into the town (5-10 mins). Opposite the lovely Abbey Gardens. We didn't use the pub itself for anything other than breakfast which was... More

We stayed here last weekend for my wife's birthday.I booked 3 rooms as we stayed here last year and had no problems.Once again it was a pleasant stay,no one had any issues, the rooms are nice and spacious, they can get quite warm so maybe open the velux slightly, and close the blackout blind. Its very close to the A14 but there is no... My husband and I spent 3 nights over the Christmas period. Bury St Edmunds is such a beautiful town to visit any time of the year, but it was delightful to spend Christmas there even though it is only 35 miles from home. Christmas Eve we attended Midnight Mass at the cathedral which was packed and seemed the perfect way... More

We visited from Australia and had many pub lunches involving the favourite - fish & chips, but this pub had undoubtedly had the best I have ever tasted anywhere The location is fantastic and the staff are friendly and welcoming Definitely worth the visit...

Thank you to our Australian visitors for posting such a rave review about our fish & chips. The dish has won awards for us at Old English Inns in the past and it is great to hear that it is still one of the best! More
