A bit drab and outdated. In desperate need of redecorating, a bit stuck in 1970,s at moment. Rooms adequate, but decor drab. Views overlooking multi storey car park depressing. Beds were comfortable, but housekeeping questionable. Bed sheets not even straightened. Bathroom ok, plenty of hot water, be careful of shower, water extremely hot, despite control. Noise at night and early... more

On business in Teeside, easy to find, good car parking. Hotel a bit dated but heck !! Food was good especially the breakfast, comfortable room which was spotless, and SKY sports in the bar, I was a happy bunny. more

We were booked in here by a travel company for a weekend break - definitely not a place we would have chosen to stay in as it;s right in the centre of Stockton and is surrounded by pubs and nightclubs and there was a lot of noise(shouting, sirens etc) until 5am in the morning. Lots of rubbish outside the hotel. Reception... more

Thank you for taking the time to pass on your comments. I agree the noise can be an issue and I have taken this up with The Council, who are not prepared to act as they regard it as a non-residential.area. The rubbish is part of the shopping centres remit and I will pass your comments on to them. I sincerely...

I can't really believe this is a 3 star hotel. Stayed there because the Thistle in Middlesbrough was full. Front of house is dingy and amazed there's no broadband access - they sent me across the road to a pub! Bathroom was barely clean, room over-heated, view across to a carpark. Very grudging about getting me a (fairly nasty) meal... more

At one time prior to Marriott taking away the best hotels Swallow where a quality chain. The Stockton Swallow was a long way from the best but was reasonable. You can still see remnants of how it used to look but unfortunatly it is decaying rapidly. A good example are the toliets off the main bar area. Now the wash... more

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to put your comments about the hotel on the TA site. As far as the fabric of the hotel is concerned your knowledge is correct as Waltham Abbey and Bexleyheath were built by Vaux Swallow. In response to your observations I apologise for the inconsistent breakfasts and it is a shame that...

I work in Stockton and live some distance away so have stayed at the Swallow a few times when working late. The choice of hotels in Stockton is pretty limited with the budget hotels usually booked in advance. The general appearance of the hotel is tired and like something out of the 70s, but the check in staff are friendly... more

Firstly the car park is not owned by the hotel and as such is not in our control. I can state though it has good security and is looking for assured status. The police regard it as a low risk environment. It is unfortunate the meal was an issue but we serve a lot of guests over the year and get...

This was a useful place to stay with its town centre location, but not really inspiring. The building is ugly (and dominates Stockton's townscape in a truly hideous way) and while some of the upper floor rooms must have nice views (Cleveland hills, Tees barrage perhaps?) I wouldn't know as my second-floor room could see only an entrance to the... more

Yes its a 70's tower block and as such is difficult to modify .It has this in common with many hotels of its time and there is little that can be done. Its a shame we were not consistent with the restaurant but its nice to hear of a clean and cosy room.Th staff appreciate the positive comments also ,...

I was visiting the area on business so I picked the Swallow Stockton as it was only £40 on [--]. When I arrived all was well, I parked my car in the car park (easy to find,) then it was all down hill. I got to the entrance from the car park to reception down a dingy corridor where you... more

£40 including 17.5% was what this guest paid for a large room and breakfast. The local Premier Lodge , no bar , Leisure Club ,room Service etc is over £50. I rest my case.

Lots of negative reviews about the Stockton so to put things in perspective .This Hotel is used by coach companies as part of a package tour and as such the price per night is minimal as against direct booking .Do not book a room for more than £40 a night ,dependant on meals included i would say £30 room only... more

As other people have said finding the hotel by car is difficult and the town centre multi storey car park is not the safest place to leave your car. The place is just so old fashioned and out of date its unbelievable. I understand that the hotel and shopping precinct that it is attached to is due for demolision soon.... more

The car park is not the hotels but I am not aware of any issues, I leave my car in it. If the rooms were filthy and aweful 40000 guests would not stay every year so I leave it that to the reader. We are having internet installed in July so Weatherspoons can be avoided in future. As for Stockton...
