This was a five day business trip, so it was important to have relaxing surroundings and a good night's sleep, which I certainly did: comfortable bed and chairs, adjustable heating and ventilation, clean and quiet room with plenty of space. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, and the only reason I'm not giving the hotel five stars... More

We decided to pop into the Dog and Partridge for lunch on Saturday. This was following a rather disappointing visit just after Christmas but generally the food is really good. Anyway, I am pleased to say that the food we had was really good and back to it's normal quality. The staff are always lovely and will always do their... More

Booked in here for a meal to celebrate my 30th birthday. We were a group of 32 and we're seated in our own section of the pub. I was a little bit nervous after reading some negative reviews on here but we have only positive things to say. We pre-ordered our starters and Mains and this was such a help... More

Over the last few years I have regularly been to the Dog and Partridge and used their meeting room to meet with my staff who are based in the area. This week I was meeting with a colleague there. The Staff at the Dog & Partridge are in my experience always pleasant and helpful. The menu is good and although... More

Visited on 27.01.16 with my partner as I have continually told him how nice the place is, what fantastic food they serve and how good the service is. Unfortunately, for the first time I was actually disappointed! We arrived and were asked to take a seat in the bar to wait 10 mins for a table by the manager, which... More

Went on Tuesday 19th January 2016 with 9 in our party. We were given a table in a private part of the room down some steps. (we have been before and sat in the same place) It's nice and secluded and we had a lovely time. The food was really good I had a tomato soup to start and this... More

Food arrived late (main arrived after nearly 2 hours) poorly presented, dried out, obviously microwaved and then stood under a heat lamp for ages before being served. Apples not peeled, or cored, one obviously black and rotten, tough dried out meat, dried out mash and cabbage, lumpy gravy, inedible, just dreadful. No atmosphere, we were expecting the odd bagpipe or... More

Lovely very old ( and haunted ?) old coaching inn close to the castle and other hostelries Would have preferred a warmer welcome but in fairness we did book in on New Year's Eve when the staff were clearly busy

After booking a meal for 12 people on Boxing Day at the Dog and Partridge we were disappointed to say the least! We had pre booked our food only to be told when we were seated that one option was not available and we must choose a different starter, not sure when you have pre booked how you can run... More
