Entering Beryl is like going back to the Victorian era. The B&B is a grand country house dating from the early 19th Century in landscaped grounds. Almost all of its original features have been retained, even down to curtain poles and stair rods. It is gorgeous, furnished throughout with beautiful period furniture which has been immaculately maintained. It is spotless,... More

Driving through a rather unpleasant and quite ordinary looking road I was ready to be disappointed, but then out of the blue, this long, beautiful drive appeared and as we drove up we were just absolutely blown away by the beauty and tranquility of this surprising, beautiful house which is full of antiques, history and beauty. The wonderful Holly, who... More

Beryl was recommended to us by a member of our family. It is a beautiful old house within well maintained grounds. We were greeted with a lovely fire in the entrance which we were grateful for as although it was May the weather was gloomy. We used the chair lift to transport one of our rather heavy bags up the... What a wonderful place to stay. We were all warmly welcomed and given a very comfortable room. There is every facility and more that you would expect in very beautiful gardens and surroundings. The breakfast was delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend this place to stay.

Last weekend, my wife and I stayed at Beryl for the second time, on this occasion (celebrating a milestone birthday) we were joined by our two adult daughters and one of their partners. As on our first visit, everything was superb. All three of our bedrooms (Butterfly, Spring and Summer) were full of high quality antiques plus the modern amenities... More

My wife and I spent a long weekend here in April 2015 and it was sublime. Stay here and experience a luxurious rural retreat steeped in character and charm. The house is a gothic mansion tastefully adorned with classic antiques and furniture befitting the stature of the house. Our room (Spring) had a four poster bed and was beautifully decorated... We stayed in the Mary Ellen room on the 1st floor which faces the rear courtyard of the property which still has a very pleasant view and has an en-suite with bath (With shower over). Interesting accommodation full of character and interesting furniture. Breakfast is served in the ground floor dining room and and a comprehensive choice available and plenty... More

Situated high up on the outskirts of Wells, you follow a short single track lane to reach the house. Hence, this is not somewhere to stay if you want to be within an easy level walking distance of the centre. That said, you cannot fault this warm, spacious and accommodating B & B. From the friendly welcome and the comfortable... More

Felt at home straight away, all staff ( including owner) very friendly and most helpful. Fantastic grounds and house, full of Antiques, open fire, plenty of character, ALL rooms are wonderful. Excellent breakfast and they even have an HONESTY BAR. Cannot wait to return.

I just LOVE it when business brings me to Wells which means I can stay in the gorgeous Beryl Guest House. Every room is elegantly and beautifully different in a quintessentially English style. A warm welcome awaits with the promise of a beautifully cooked and presented breakfast in the morning. Just bliss.
