Visited on a Friday evening in late May. We had booked ( almost essential) and had a good table. The food, service, atmosphere was really good. Its not a corporate gastropub- its a good pub, in a lovely village, offering excellent foods and drinks. My partner chose a veggie curry dish - and it was stunning,. best ever had in... More

Dunster is a very pretty and interesting village. Castle, watermill, Yarn Market and tithe barn. Where to eat? The Stags Head Inn was open on a Sunday evening and proved a happy circumstance. It is 16th century and has still the character of an old inn. A warm welcome from staff and locals. As a Coeliac and vegetarian I often... More

Stayed here for one night and was impressed with the room and also the friendly staff. We also ate in the pub on two occasions and enjoyed the food. Would definitely stay here again. Beautiful village too.

Popped in for a pint with friends on our way back from a meal in minehead, and left wondering why I don't visit this pub more often. A proper country pub, with a great atmosphere and good ales. The guy working behind the bar is an asset to the pub. This his name/nickname was Ringo. Also the locals drinking in... More

Our second visit to this inn in the last 12 months and we were very impressed. As with our last visit the food was first class... the steak and stilton pies are a must, they are brill. The staff work as a team and are friendly and polite a credit to the owners. It is a nice relaxed venue with... More

What a lovely Inn, nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff made us feel really welcome. We were visiting Dunster Castle and visited the Stags Head for lunch, it's just outside the castle gate on the way into the village. We had a salad, with yummy onion pickle and a tuna melt, both were very tasty. We sneaked a look at... More

Can't praise this place enough. The accommodation and the food were excellent, both in the restaurant and the breakfast in the mornings, with very friendly people who made everything perfect for our short break. Terry and Denise and their staff will definitely be seeing us again as soon as we can!

We booked as a party of ten midweek. The table was all set with candles and in a good position. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Four of us were veggie and we chose this place for the good vegetarian menu. Unfortunately lots of choices were off the menu on this evening. We should have let them know in... More
