We spent a not inconsiderable sum of £156 for a room for four people on the 5/6 Feb 16. We along with several other unfortunate people didn't get any sleep due to a bunch of drunk yobs with no respect for anybody in room 25 a short distance away from us. This can happen in a hostel, I accept that.... More

Stayed here while at a university conference. It was unlike hostels on holidays to other parts of Europe. Not a lot to be aid tbh. Was a relaxed place to stay, quite nice that we all knew each other there. Location is not too far from the university and is one 5 min bus ride to town centre. It has... More

We stayed here with our 2 young kids and another family of 4. We got adjacent dorm rooms, which were basic but did the job for 2 nights. The kids had a blast and we were able to put them to bed safely and us adults eat downstairs and socialise without any issues from other guests or staff. YHAs offer... More

This is a nice place to stay with clean rooms and bathrooms (small but it's a hostel so expected). It's a little for out of the city Centre and is thus difficult to travel to with luggage. Especially because we were there for only one night but had to leave our bags in luggage storage on both days because the... More

Dear Jordy R, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Yes we are a little out of the city, but we get great views in winter. I’m glad you found it a nice place to stay. YHA has over 150 hostels across England & Wales, try out another one, as some of them are right in the... More

We were on a weekend trip to see the City and Christmas Market and stayed at the YHA. The hostel is in a handsome old house on a hill outside the city centre. Our room wss comfortable, in the annexe, and the staff were very friendly as they always are at a YHA. The walk to the city, with views... More

Rundown facility with unwelcoming staff at the front desk. Had to ask staff 3 times where the hotspot for wifi is. On that note, wifi was terrible, only available in the dining room but still poor. Don't leave your windows open after dark as mosquitos will come in from the surrounding bush.

Dear Anthony P, Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we appreciate all guest feedback. I'm sorry that you found the staff unwelcoming. I'll be sharing your post with them. I'll be highlighting to them the importance of mentioning wi-fi on check in as it's a requirement of most people these days. We are a charity and... More

Me And my partner stayed here and it was good enough for what we needed. Worth the money. Nice kitchen area for cooking. Quite a few couches in the lounge for chilling on. A long walk into town. Would stay here again on a budget :-)

Nice plan, it has a beautiful view and convenient for bus access. The building itself is pretty good - esp the heritage setting. But it could have been nicer with the heating arrangement - it wasn't the best available and the doorways get narrow as you go up for the upper floors. If you are travelling under budget it is... Dear VinayNagaraju, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate all feedback as it helps us to provide a better service, to you, our guest. Our building is a Victorian Italianate Mansion and does have a few quirky details, like our tower, with its spiral staircase, but with great views. We’ve adjusted the heating lately, and... More

We really enjoyed our four night stay here. The location is lovely with views to the town, yet a secluded location. Fares to and from the town centre were cheap. We found the staff very kind and helpful. The self catering kitchen is well set up and together with its adjacent eating area is very good for people on a... More

Large dorm rooms, good internet and friendly staff. Bathrooms a bit messy and dirty, showers really small but do the job. Pretty central to everything and a few bars just around the corner. Good place to just sleep, which what hostels are for
