I was looking for a special place to stay in Bath - but not a corporate hotel - read the reviews for Apsley House and thought too good to be true?? But worth a try. It was excellent and exactly what we wanted - upmarket but not posh, really friendly and helpful, with lots of extra wow in the room.... more

We stayed for a long weekend break. Everything was excellent. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food was very good, and the staff were friendly. I would certainly recommend the Apsley House Hotel more

A pleasant surprise awaited us on our arrival at this private B&B in a house built by the victor of Waterloo, the Duke of Wellington, for a favoured mistress in this historic spa town. We were upgraded to Room 1, the spacious and elegant Wellington Room on the first floor, with its stately double bed and splendid view of the... more

Can this really be the No 1 hotel in Bath? It's not saying much for Bath if this is the best they can do. Although the owners are charming and the breakfast good, we were disappointed. Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor we were expecting more charming hotel than average B&B. Our room was okay (although a bit fussy,... more

Enjoyed a one night stay here in the Wellington Room. Other than the bed mattress dating from the time of Wellington, this a charming place to stay. A bit difficult to find, so if you are not familiar get good directions. The proprietors are exceptionally welcoming, and justifiably proud of their city. Very pleased with their advice on sites and... more

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by the very welcoming staff, who were also very knowledgable on the area. The room we opted for was the garden room with four-poster bed, the room was absolutely stunning and all facilities excellent. I had read some negative reviews about this room as there is no shower, however, the roll top bath more... more

I may have been expecting more, due to the glowing reviews over the years. No, this is not the Four Seaons, but its homey and the more nights we stayed, the more we enjoyed this wonderful house and its innkeepers. Its old, though our bathroom (we stayed in the most expensive room) was modern and quite nice. The 4 poster... more

This is excellent accommodation. On the outskirts of town so nice and quiet. We had a large bedroom and large ensuite with the a view across the back garden. Room was beautifully furnished. Bed was very comfortable. Spotlessly clean. House has a sitting room with bar for guests to share and meet. Breakfast was magnificent - plenty of choice, beautiflly... more

One of very few bed and breakfasts throughout England that combines traditional English elegance with modern day service and a genuine concern for their guest in all aspects. They are a shining beacon in a murky sea of decidedly ordinary B&B's / A forward booking is a good idea as they are naturally popular more

This was our first night on a vacation to the UK and it was a great way to start the trip. Everything about the house was very nice and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and provide useful information about the area. They even helped us plan our next day and reserve accommodations... more
