I stayed overnight at this B&B. The couple running it seemed nice and polite enough when I checked in but were really cranky in the morning. The wife seemed overworked and the husband seemed kind of rheumy (alcoholic?). Room was really tiny and narrow. Carpets were beautiful but needed deep cleaning. Bathroom - Yikes! When I used the sink the... more

I read a ton of bad reviews of Pulteney House before my trip, and was extremely nervous upon my arrival. However, I soon found out that those bad reviews were dead wrong. The staff was friendly throughout my entire stay, cheerfully accomodating my weird arrival and leaving times. Breakfast was delightful--I loved the poached eggs. To the reviewers who said... more

I was looking for an inexpensive crash space within walking distance of the train station, and Pulteney Hotel fit the bill nicely. I booked it from the Tourist Info Centre in town. As you can tell from my photo the single room was tiny, but I wasn't planning to spend much time there other than asleep. Kind of a musty... more

Well, if the black and white posters (of a girl and guy on a motorbike) from a 19 year old teenager in the 80's wasn't a sign, I don't know what is. The room was small with large pieces of run down furniture. Bed was uncomfortable. It was late in the day and because the university was having graduation, everywhere... more

After staying at Priory Cottage the previous week (see reviews), we needed one more night's lodgings in Bath. Unfortunately, P.C. had already had a booking for our extra night. Maybe it was due to the contrast between the two places, but the Pulteney Hotel pales in comparison to Priory Cottage. Naturally, it felt far less homey and more "hotel-like" due... more

We booked a family room that was really too small for 3 people - think a single bed was added to a double. The website is quite misleading - the hotel is detached but 'set it it's own grounds' suggests it is a little further from the main road and railway than it is. The breakfast was small, of a... more

Well I can't agree with the "Fawlty Towers" comments from last year. I had a very pleasant and comfortable overnight stay and would definitely consider returning again. The Pulteney is conveniently located with beautiful grounds and lovely furnishings. It's kept very clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, if a little on the small side... more

We had a lovely time at this place. Great location, wonderful gardens that we could enjoy, and no problems with parking our car. We were met most warmly and were helped with our luggage to our room. The room was perfectly clean, cosy and had a great view out the front. Breakfast was great with a good choice from the... more

We stayed at the pulteney hotel for one night while visiting friends, so all we wanted was a decent room for the night. Having been totally fooled by the website which promises a lot and delivers....well nothing but a half decent beakfast at the crack of dawn. We were left out in the cold because nobody was there to welcome... more
