Before I start this review I must comment on a negative post I saw on this forum. This is a small country pub with some accommodation available so Premier Inn type rooms or service should not be expected, but I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were immediately struck by how quiet... More

We spent two nights here whilst attending a family gathering. I have visited The Crown many times for a drink and always enjoyed the company and atmosphere. However this is the first time I have stayed overnight. Like other reviews we did find the room small but it was clean and tidy and part of an old building so we... More

We stayed here for 2 nights a Friday and Saturday night. Firstly the food was very tasty, and I was impressed with the service. We stayed in the Blond room it was warm and cosy with a very comfy bed. The locals are very friendly. I highly recommend a visit to this historic pub. Thankyou to the management and staff

Stayed here 02.08.14 for just one night as a couple. We were running late so called ahead to confirm what time food was being served till (9pm) was told they wold let the kitchen know which was nice of them! On arrival, didn't get a very friendly reception, no one on the bar, few locals in the pub, barmaid walked... More

Please everyone, avoid this place like the plague!. The staff couldn't organise a ***-** in a brewery. Their manner of treating guests was disgusting. Upon me complaining upon the state of the bathroom not being cleaned and the fact of no clean towels, the so called manageress did not even have the common courtesy to talk to me! The breakfast... We arrived on Thursday 24th July for 4 nights and were shown to a twin room. To say there was no room to swing a cat was an understatement. Hardly any space to maneouvre around; you could hardly get in to the ensuite as the door was right against one of the beds with hardly any space and there was... More

I fell in love with this place as soon as I walked in! The bar looks like it's never changed, very quaint pub with very friendly locals. The food was the best food iv had out for a long time and was presented beautifully. The beer garden, again beautiful. A fab play area for the kids, lovely flowers and a... More

Myself and my girlfriend went to the pub for Sunday lunch. Having confirmed it with reception, we ordered a plain cheese sandwich, was served with a goats cheese sandwich, explained the problem and was met with poor service. Upon paying, we had huge problems in convincing them of a US card which they wouldn't accept as it was unsigned despite... More

This is a really lovely old pub. The Sunday roast was lovely, only thing i would say is could have done with a little more veg, otherwise lovely food and good gravy. Good value and would definately recommend. Would like to see some more hot desserts on the menu, couldn't see anything like a good old crumble or apple pie.

just made a second visit for Sunday Lunch, the service has greatly improved and the meal was good value, could have had a bigger range of normal deserts ie. fruit crumble or pie in place of the more fancier things.this time of year people prefer warm pud's.On the whole a much better experience - well done.
