The hotel is just over the road from the railway station and bus station and very close to everything that the magnificent city of Bath has to offer. The rooms each have character and all amenities. The staff couldn't be more friendly, helpful and keen to make your stay a happy one. The breakfast was excellent. The restaurant provides fine... More

Had a lovely twin room facing the station and noise was no problem. I loved the chocolates and the fact that their was a tea and coffee pot to make the drinks in the room. Staff were amazing, really helpful. Provided gluten free bread and cream tea upon request and our 2 night package deal including the spa was a... More

My wife and I have just returned from an extremely pleasant 2 night break at The Royal. The strength of this Hotel lies in it's staff who from the moment we arrived went out of their way to see that our stay went smoothly. The room we had was not the biggest but was 'standard' size, had a very good... More

We had a superior double which was excellent , big bed, sofa, huge tv, lovely bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. Bar reasonably priced. Didn't eat in hotel in the evening. Location perfect as across the road from the station.

Thank you for your review following your stay with us. However, I was very surprised to read the heading i.e. “Very convenient but expensive” with no reference in the review as to why you thought we were expensive, indeed, your only reference to prices is that you state that the drink prices were reasonable. I am pleased you enjoyed the... More

The ethos of this hotel is evident from the outset. Warm, welcoming, obliging staff - nothing is too much trouble. This with the highly convenient location makes a trip to the beautiful and historic city so easy. The major highlight has to be the dining. The restaurant service is very friendly and accomodating but above and beyond this the food... More

Thank you very much for your thoughtful and complimentary review following your recent stay with us and in particular your kind remarks about our staff, who we are enormously proud of. I am also delighted that you and your children enjoyed the food and service in our restaurant and therefore not tempted to eat elsewhere! We very much look forward... More

Very conveniently placed this hotel has qualities of a bygone age, plenty of history and was very comfortable to stay in. We had a room at the front with a four poster bed. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the location, just across the road from the railway station was ideal for us. We were served a delicious... More

I read some rather negative reviews about this hotel at the time I booked it but I was very happy with the accommodation overall. I booked this because of it's very central location and arrived on the hottest day of the year so everywhere in the south of England was hot; the room had reasonable circulation and a large clean... Thank you for your review. I am delighted that you were pleased with your accommodation overall and that you found our staff friendly. However, was disappointed to read that you considered our breakfast to be no more than “adequate” when we normally receive many compliments about the quality of our breakfast and indeed the English Tourist Board have recognised this... We arrived at 2.30 pm. Given keys to a very small room!..we returned to reception and asked for larger room. The room they offered was larger, but only because it had a shower and no bath which was no good for my partner.so back to cramped room!.. We were very disappointed with the sparse evening menu..so we enquired if we could... More

This historic hotel is located directly across from the Bath train and bus stations, which is the perfect jumping off spot for exploring this beautiful city. I stayed in room 102, which is a lovely warm & quiet single room. This room is located on a semi-private hallway and has the view of the roof planters. The room is small,... More

Many thanks for your review following your recent stay with us. I am delighted that you found everything so much to your liking with the exception of what you describe as “spotty internet”. I am surprised to read this comment as we normally have excellent (free) WiFi throughout the hotel and I can only assume that on this particular occasion,... More

The hotel is opposite the railway station, easy walking distance from key attractions, such as the river, Pulteney Bridge and the Theatre Royal. The walls are a bit thin, so if you have noisy neighbours you won't get a lot of sleep, but everything else about the place is good - the staff are all wonderful, the beer's good and... More
