Spent 3 nights at this hotel, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Breakfast was buffet style for cold food but cooked to order for hot food, all of good quality. Bar snack at lunchtime was equally good. Would stay here again.

Let's get the worst over first. Dinner at the "restaurant" on the first night We arrived via the lounge bar at 7 pm and asked if there was a table for two. The answer was no. This seemed rather strange as the place was about one third full and there seemed to be plenty of places on the upper level.... More

The hotel is very well located in the centre of Bath. The staff go out of their way to help you wherever they can and it comes with parking as long as you email them and ask to book. Reasonable at £8 per day. The room was well sized and clean. Only downside was the room lock was very fiddly... More

My friend and I stayed in the Royal Hotel Bath last week. We had two nights there. We had booked a parking space, but it was not available on our arrival as the previous guests had not moved their car. This was quite quickly sorted out by the management, so we were able to park. The hotel was very nice,... More

Thank you for your review following your stay with us. Although strictly speaking when using the Taste Card guests are required to book in advance I am disappointed that our duty management, on this occasion, were not more flexible in allowing you to use the Taste Card, particularly as you were hotel guests – my apologies. With regards to the... More

I was here for a reunion with old friends. A room for three was a great size, the breakfast was enough to keep going until dinner time and the ground coffee and cafetiere in the room was a bonus!! A very central location for a unique wee place. After check out we were sitting in the bar waiting for our... More

I have just returned from a weekend trip in Bath. I booked this hotel based on it's website and the location (just across from the main train station) - Reception upon arrival was ok, although the receptionist seemed to be rushing to give all the info about breakfast, keys and closing times. - She said there was not a spare... I am replying as one of the owners of The Royal Hotel and would like to deal with each of the issues raised. As you will be aware from the information on the website, The Royal was built in 1846 and is a Grade II listed building and, as such, any structural alterations to the property, such as installing a... Just come back from two night stay, location is excellent and staff were so friendly and helpful especially the reception staff unfortunately the room we had was tired, with sticky floor and blocked shower tray, overlooking the front which was pretty noisy at night and walls were thin so could hear next doors conversation. Breakfast was very nice and again... More

Thank you for your review following your stay with us. I was surprised and concerned to read that you found the floor sticky and that there was a blocked shower tray which I could not understand but unfortunately this was not brought to my attention during your stay, otherwise it would have been dealt with immediately. I have since had... More

Lovely hotel. Reasonable value for money. Clean and tidy. Pleasant staff. Breakfast selection good. Staff welcoming and helpful. Located well in central Bath. The downsides - no aircon so open windows required. Hotel located immediately opposite the mainline railway station and therefore taxi rank. Also the hotel neighbours Manvers Street Baptist Church which attracted some colourful characters right round the... More

Thank you for your review. I was very pleased to read your positive comments and I thank you for these. With regards to lack of air conditioning, unfortunately because The Royal is a Grade II listed building we have not been able to install cost effective air conditioning which would mean mechanical equipment fitted to the exterior of each bedroom... For years friends and I have been popping in the bar here for a few beers before or after Bath Rugby. The drinks and ales are always perfect and although sometimes busy (obviously ) service is prompt with no nonsense. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your review. I am delighted that you use our bar for a “few beers” before and after the rugby which as you have noted is very popular with your fellow rugby supporters. Mike MacDermid General Manager More
