Needed to find a hotel to stayat short notice as travelling from Scotland to a funeral. Hotel , looks lovely and rather grand on the outside. Inside very dated and old fashioned. Lift was very scarey... take the stairs! Rooms old and dated.. carpet badly marked and wornout. Bathroom clean and tidy. Only 1 saucer in room. Only left us... more

I was really shocked to read a bad review about this hotel!! Myself and my partner chose to stay here as we wanted to be close to Bath. The hotel is a short distance out of town but there is a bus stop just a few minutes walk from the hotel and taxis are really reasonable to and from. The... more

We decided to stay here at short notice for the night before a nearby wedding, the room had mould all over the bathroom, the side table tops werent attached to base, stale water in kettle, only 1 towel in the room, carpet filthy. I cant stress enough how terrible it was. We asked for fruit tea at breakfast and were... more

Obviously house was beautiful in it's day but hasn't been converted well into a hotel. Staff were minimal, noone helped us with our luggage up the windy stairs, poky elevator, carpets were old and the rooms were just as mismatched. During breakfast we asked the waitress if the fish was already boned, she snarkily said "fish usually do have bones",... more

Nicely located out of the hustle and bustle of bath and within easy travelling distance of other attractions in the area (Cheddar Gorge, Wookie Hole, Bath & Longleat). It is a very old fashioned hotel and the rooms very dated but clean and acceptable. The breakfasts are very good and the Hop Pole at the end of the drive has... more

Just returned from a 3 day stay at this Hotel an can say we enjoyed ourselves. You arrive by driving up an impresive climb through the gates via a well kept drive. The welcome by reception for us was warm and professional. Our room was a genourous size and very comfortable. The Hotel is old and little quirky so all... more

We cannot fault the hotel at all - there is not one thing we could criticise - the food was beautiful, the staff were great especially Katie the wedding co-ordinator who is an absolute star and Miro the MC. The guests were all very impressed with the organisation of the whole wedding day morning to late night - we could... more

Just got back from a two night stay at this hotel. Booked a special offer through Best Western for 2 nights b&b plus dinner for one night. On arrival, the receptionist was very welcoming, despite us looking at 3 rooms before we found one we liked! It is true that the decor in the bedrooms is a bit tired, but... more
