We bought a two night package. If you are looking for an ultra modern, Marriott or Hilton type hotel, this isn't for you. If however, you enjoy traditional character and charm then you'll love this. It is easy walking distance to everything you'd want to check out in Bath. The rooms are clean and comfortable, it was warm and cosy... More

I have never written a bad review about a hotel before but in this case I had to. I am not fussy- a decent nights sleep and a working shower is all I require but this place was awful! We paid £139 for one night. The travelodge up the road was only £90. The bath room was disgusting, stained and... More

This hotel reminds me of the Stanley hotel in the Shining, something from a bygone era. This place is scheduled to have a full makeover but currently it stands as a draby, tired old looking place that's terribly outdated. Every floorboard you walk on creaks, in fact no floorboard is level! the staff are a mish-mash of locals and foreigners,... More

My wife bought a 2 night b&b deal. We read previous reviews before booking up. Yes it needs a refurb. Staff really alert and helpful. Very busy second morning for breakfast. Replenishment of hot items could have been slicker. Buffet very ample. Strained yoghurt really good. Prunes lovely flavour. Toaster slow. Fresh grind coffee machine more than ok. Room 106... More

I spent three days in this hotel, with my partner. I must say that the hotel is located in a very nice position. Very close to the train station and to the Bath Abbey. But this is all it has for good. After the checkin we were initially assigned a room at the 3rd floor where we arrived with a... More

This is a grand old hotel building that is certainly crying out for the promised refurbishment by the new owners. We actually found it hard to tell if some of the public areas had already had a revamp, as in parts, such as the bar, it looked as if some upgrading of the decor had already taken place. lf so,... The hotel is dated but has character. It was a good base for a chilled weekend visit to Bath. The staff are all very approachable and helpful. We had a good stay. Bar prices are average and the ambiance is mellow. It is worth researching the car parking- we contacted the hotel prior to our visit and were emailed the... More

Just returned from a one night stay at this charming hotel in the centre of Bath. Lovely staff, extremely pleasant and helpful. Room was a decent size, warm (it was a very cold night) spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. Great choice at breakfast served in a very elegant dining room. All in all I couldn't find fault with... More

After reading all the terrible reviews on here, I wasn't expecting much. Reception were really knowledgeable and friendly made us feel really welcome, we stayed on the 3rd floor, yes the lift is like something from the tower of terror but that's part of the hotels character, it does need updating, but it's clean :). We had a lovely nights... More

My fiance and I stayed here for two nights, in fact I am sitting in the room still as I type. We had read all the reviews before attending and have to say, its much better than the credit it gets. Yes, if decor is the most Important thing for you then maybe not the place? However, its decor is... More
