Friends of ours visit the Talbot Inn's restaurant often and when we were looking for a B&B, they suggested looking at the Talbot Inn. Rob, the manager, was at hand when we arrived and took us to our room. We slept in the Horner room and given the history of the Horner family in Mells, this was great. Going up... More

My husband and I took our two teenage children here for lunch yesterday. The food was excellent and portions were extremely generous, the roast pork was perfectly cooked with a piece of crackling on the side, potatoes and vegetables (cauliflour cheese, leeks, carrots and parsnips) were all delicious and it came very sensibly served with a jug of gravy. Best... More

This is old England. If you are looking for the decor and luxuries of a Marriott or a Hilton it isn't for you but if you are willing to overlook the decorative blemishes that come (to us all) with character and old age you will love this ancient Inn for its charm, warmth, country/village location and excellent cuisine. Rob is... More

Stayed here for a night in August for my birthday and was going to longleat the following day. Very confused as to how or where to get into the place as their didn't appear to be an 'entry' door. After seeing a little hatch open we decided to jus go in and see if we can find someone as we... More

On my recent holiday to the U.K. I stayed at this Inn for a couple of nights, I absolutely loved it! The food was excellent from breakfasts to dinners, whether in the restaurant or the bar! My room was, how can I put this, just full of old fashioned charm, so comfy & spotless! The staff are so warm &... More

We didn't stay the night but attended a wedding reception. Service and food were out of this world. Staff were amazing and very friendly. We had the private use of the garden (beautiful) and were in the barn extension. The whole place had a wonderful atmosphere. Small and intimate. Food was just wonderful. Canapes were unusual but very tasty and... More

I have stayed at the Talbot and had many meals in the Resturant over the past 10 years and I am never disappointed. Landlord / Manager Rob is always very welcoming and the food is excellent. Add to that a very beautiful old building, set in the centre of an ancient village and it is a winning combination. If you... More

Came across this wonderful old charm hotel by accident and we are so pleased we did. I did wonder what I had booked us into when we first stepped through the door.....but it was lovely. Sure the rooms are old....the whole building is very old but furnished to suit which adds charm. The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast.... More

Firstly the welcome from the staff was great, very pleasant & helpful, the village is full of character and the pub has sound pub food (not a 'Gastropub') ... Our breakfast was excellent. The accommodation however is very, very disappointing, and the level of cleanliness was simply unacceptable. Our room was very dated, in poor decorative order, had a bizzare... More
