We stayed for 2 nights in Room 1 (The Suite). Very spacious and comfortable accomodation over 2 floors. The first floor area (above the restaurant) comprises a bedroom (4-poster bed, quite high up off the ground) and a sitting area with a sofa and an amusingly small TV. A reasonably steep staircase takes you up to the second floor where... More

Just returned from a 1 night stay in Room 5 of this beautiful place. Decor is absolutely stunning, room was lovely, with a big comfy bed and the breakfast was gorgeous. Its obvious that a lot of time and effort has been put into making the Golden Cross a luxurious and interesting place to stay.

We stayed 2 nights in the Golden Cross in a standard Double [£75pn incl Breakfast]. The room, whilst being small [as expected] was very well appointed. A significant amount has been lavished on maintaining and improving a 14th century property. Access to the bedrooms was via a separate access for which you have a key, another plus. Although on the... More

Stayed and dined in the private dining room. Great hospitality, food and service were great!! One of the most unique places I've stayed! Great breakkie aswell! The private dining room was perfect for some hospitality we were hosting, everybody had a really lovely time. I stayed in the twin room which was nice, the building is very old so expect... More

Our favourite Shrewsbury restaurant encouraged us to stay in a room for the night. What an experience! Staying in the double room for £75 was akin to sleeping in a coffin with all the gothic ambience one associates with Edgar Allan Poe. This may not sound enjoyable, but it is highly recommended as an experience not to be missed. The... More

Fantastic characterful quirky historical and that's just the owner. Great great place to stay. Wonderful rooms, the restaurant has a nice buzz and the food was good value, fresh, different and well thought out menu. This is the second time we have stayed and it won't be the last. Don't recognise some of the previous comments, for me this was... More

Monday and Tuesday nights. We booked all 4 rooms at very varying prices and were very comfortable. An old building full of character but not as spacious or easy to get around as a modern featureless hotel would be. The food for dinner and breakfast was excellent with all the ingredients of a high standard. Parking was difficult but possible... More

Good food, good service but atmosphere spoilt by the new decor. Its no longer a welcoming old English pub ( it used to be lovely and quaint I heard one American complain) Now it looks more like a French cafe - just the same as many another place. Shame. It used to be so unique. We won't go again for... More

Next time I come to shrewsbury, I will be staying... More

What a gem! The room was delightful and the food sublime. Our host could not have been more gracious and his staff were charming. The Inn is centrally located in the charming town. Every detail has been seen to with sense and style. A warning that there is no lift and the stairs to the five wonderful rooms is very... More
