I will keep this review brief as I think that it can simply be summed up with the following: 1. town centre location 2. really great, friendly and helpful staff 3. room was small but made up for it in character and comfort 4. the hearty breakfast was a treat! Next time I come to shrewsbury, I will be staying... More

What a gem! The room was delightful and the food sublime. Our host could not have been more gracious and his staff were charming. The Inn is centrally located in the charming town. Every detail has been seen to with sense and style. A warning that there is no lift and the stairs to the five wonderful rooms is very... More

My partner took me away for a night for my birthday. We stayed at the golden cross, and all I can say is 'wow' why a wonderful place! We had the largest room, room 1, and it's jut out of this world, I struggled to leave the bed it was so nice! I'm a huge Tudor fan so it wS... More

We had lunch here about a year ago and liked it so much we thought we would re-visit on our latest trip to Shrewsbury. It did not disappoint. My partner likes traditional "pub grub" and I like something a little different. He settled for fish & chips whilst I enjoyed fried black pudding on a bed of rosti and wilted... More

We stays in the golden cross again last night as we were shopping in shrewsbury. I just LOVE it. The whole 'shabby chic' vibe, welcoming staff & owners is excellent. We stayed in the suite last night & what beautiful room it is. The breakfast we had this morning was absolutely lovely. I can't rave about enough about it. A... More

I have not tried the restaurant , other than for breakfast, so can't comment on that. I stayed one night . I had booked a double room for one person ( on business not pleasure) but it wasn't really big enough even for one person. I was geek enough to measure the depth of the wardrobe , less than 5... I first discovered this restaurant at a Christmas do with work. Pork belly to die for. Took my husband there on Valentine's Day - lived up to expectations. The restaurant was busy but very individual attention. Could easily have enjoyed anything from the menu.

Service not good, the manager wearing jeans. 3 of us visited with a view to book a birthday meal, we ordered Soup and an Onion Bahj. which was fine,... More

Found this after trying to get into a few other restaurants, but very glad that we carried on looking. Tried to book a table in the afternoon for later that night and could only get in at either 6 or 9. Testament to its stunning food. I would advise booking the night before if not even earlier to make sure... More

Haven't eaten here for a while and so glad I took my dearest friend there for an evening meal it was superb. Haddock fishcake with poached egg was sublime, such a wonderful dining experience and a great wine choice too.
