My best mate and I met up in Shrewsbury for a 'girlie' w'end, as it is a haflway-ish point. It really is a hidden gem of a place! Just off of the main road, go through an arch, and into a real sun-trap of a courtyard. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, with all local information if needed. The rooms... More

I was in Shrewsbury for a wedding, at nearby Rowton Castle, and needed somewhere that wasn't too expensive. What a great find. The accomodation was clean, cosy and quiet and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's near all the shops and sights of Shrewsbury and there is a car park just at the bottom of the hill, a... Found this pub by chance whilst we were on a shopping trip. Saw the sign and so glad we walked in,owing to the nearby pub being too full to accommodate us. The staff were extremely friendly and the choice of lunchtime 2 for £10 was very good. We were pleased with the quality of food and speed of service. My... More

Perfect location, room with bath (no shower but we were informed before hand so no problem). Car park was only a couple of minutes away at a cost of £5.90 - but again we were told before hand) but the central location was worth it. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice. Ale was good and service friendly and excellent.... More

We wanted to visit an "old England" pub and staying at the Old Post Office was perfect. The food is fantastic, and the service great. The decor is befittingly "old", and the building displays its age through its winding corridors and up & down stairs. It's in the centre of old Shrewsbury and you can walk to everything. We had... I was reccommended the old post office hotel through another hotel (very kind of them) who were consequently fully booked. Upon entering the hotel I was greeted by very friendly members of staff. I just wanted a comfy cosy room, with a reasonable price to match. The rooms are ensuite and I stayed in the single occupancy room. Breakfast is... More

We stayed for one night at the Old Post Office and although the room was clean and comfortable the decor was very basic (woodchip wallpaper throughout) and the en suite bathroom certainly need updating and the shaving light didn't work. As you would expect from a room in a pub, it wasn't quiet but realised that when we booked. It... More

We stayed for 3 nights in the old post office in June and found the rooms dated and dusty. The extra money we payed for an ensuite didn't include a shower. At no point during our 3 day stay was our room cleaned (no new towels, no bins emptied etc.) and the communal shower room didn't appear to be cleaned... More
