My husband was born in Shrewsbury and each year on his birthday since we retired we have visited Shrewsbury and had lunch in the Kings Head as the fish and chips used to be the best he had tasted. When we arrived at the Kings Head we looked at the board outside and agreed that we would both have the... More

Called in for a lunchtime snack... dizzy thick barmaid was hopeless slow and I think at this stage should have left to eat elsewhere !! Ordered a mixed roast of the day baguettes with side chips. A fiver each we expected roast meat slices on a baguette. ....what arrived was what looked like small cubes of diced fatty looking things... More

Touring Shrewsbury and just popped in for something to eat. Great looking place, old and low, plenty of character. The place was very quiet when we were there but Emily behind the bar couldn't have been nicer. The fare was pretty standard pub grub but nicely cooked with fresh veg which hadn't been boiled to death. The menu was a... More

Wandered into the place, dying of flu, feeling tired and just wanted a cheap bed... And so pleasantly surprised by the great room, excellent value and lovely staff. Old-world feel, but modern without being pretentious. Bed linen could have been a bit better (a top sheet would have been nice)... but a greater than average pub room. Spotlessly clean and... More

Can't believe I have never been in here before but one thing is certain I will be going back. It has an old fashioned feel to it, take time to really look at the building both inside and out, with a good selection of ale so hubby was happy. The staff and the atmosphere was friendly and the music excellent.... More

We found the place by chance and spent the afternoon here. They were having a Help for Hero's charity fun day with live music all afternoon. The pub has olde world charm and friendly staff. The bar prices were reasonable, the menu looked good but we didn't eat.

The Kings Head is an amazing pub steeped in history. The location is perfect. Free private car park. Staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in the twin room overlooking the street, it's a beautiful large room full of original features and an ensuite with a great shower, plenty of teas and coffees and large mugs, very comfortable beds and... I cannot understand the idiotic reviews that I have read on here. I stayed at the kings head last month and could not be more happy. Obviously it will be loud if you book in on a night where there is music, you do not need the staff to tell you that. I found the room to be charming and... More

My wife and I arrived in Shrewsbury without hotel reservations on a Saturday only to find that many of the hotels were full due to a running marathon being held that weekend. A local suggested the Kings Head Inn. We were happy to find that they only charged 40 gbp/nt. The rooms initially looked great, but after checking in we... More
