Came for a Saturday night over the Bank Holiday week end. Tried parking in the tiny rear car park but ended up quite happily in the public secure car park opposite at £7:00 for 24 hours. Clean bright well appointed bedroom with nice design features. Didn't eat in the restaurant, but had a drink in the bar later evening and... More

Lovely atmosphere with great cocktails and food!! Staff very attentive knowledgeable with excellent restaurant and fantastic food! Nice that they haven't tried to squeeze more tables in as other restaurants seem to do. Well done and we will be back!!!

Visited for my wife’s birthday, on our son’s recommendation. Not disappointed in fact a superb visit and stay thanks to the superb team and lovely hotel. From the minute we reserved and paid for the visit the entire team in communications were simply superb. Meg, Emily and Elli, all three at different stages prior to our arriving, leading up to... Went for a mid week lunch, but only stayed for a drink. Nothing on the lunchtime menu appealed to us. The restaurant is comfortable and relaxed. The staff were friendly, and we sat out in the rear courtyard.

Beautifully presented bespoke hotel, with plenty of thoughtful features. Breakfasts excellent. Would certainly stay here again for either business or pleasure. Very close to the river, perfect for running, walking or cycling, as well as restaurants and unique shops.

The photos on the website really caught my eye, very white and grey decor, stylish and contemporary design in a very old building. As a birthday treat we went for the deluxe room( no.1) with a four poster bed. The room overlooked the outdoor garden courtyard area (and car park) and as other reviewers have said, on a sunny warm... More

The often used description 'olde Worlde' certainly applies here. A very narrow entrance to the car park through the old coaching entrance sets one up for the experiences to come. A map or piece of string might help when moving around the buildings. Up one flight of stairs, down another and hey presto one's room or dining room appears. Great... More

My husband and I stayed last weekend for our 1st anniversary celebrations on the recommendation of my husband's parents. We were not disappointed. We stayed in the Loft Suite, which was beautiful, the added extras were very much appreciated and enjoyed. The hotel is very well situated and is walking distance to the beautiful quarry park. I would highly recommend... More

Having just held our daughter's wedding reception at The Lion & Pheasant Hotel we can only highly commend the staff for their exceptional service not only at the wedding breakfast but during the whole day. The food was delicious, guests were offered a choice of meals for the 3 course wedding breakfast (not usual for weddings), the evening buffet too... More

Once you can get through the exceedingly narrow entrance to the car-park behind the hotel, everything improves quickly! The staff were efficient and pleasant - exceptionally so - and the room was very comfortable. The highlight of the stay was the evening meal which was very good indeed, offering quality, choice and sufficient quantity to please any reasonable person! We... More

Thanks for your review , we're happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us , the narrow entrance is the original entrance that the horses and stage coaches used to enter the hotel , we can't widen it as it is a national monument ! Care is required if you are driving into our car park or there is... More
